Wandsworth too

A branch of discount store Poundland has been closed after mice droppings were found on top of food and “gnawed” packets were found on shelves.

The store at Southside shopping centre in Wandsworth was forced to close on Friday after environmental health inspectors visited the shop and found a heavy rodent infestation.

The shop was immediately closed by inspectors and it is not currently known when the branch will reopen.

Customers were alerted to the closure by a notice placed outside the store.

red , when PLND took out the 99p stores didn`t that include a number of stores which operate under the Family Bargains name as well - these are not restricted to a single price point.

Maybe going down this road slowly as well ?

Popped my head into two Plnd stores today. Beginning to look busier today.

One of them had a 'tatty' handwritten notice, almost lost on a pile of goods.
It said that the store was trialling a few lines priced at more than £1.

Does that mean they are losing confidence in the business model?
Alternatively, they might have studied the detailed books of 99p stores and seen that such lines sold by them are more profitable than the budget lines.

It does mean that they can add to the number of product lines, but it will bring them into more competition with other low end retailers.

don't know what to think.

140p does seem to be a good base. If you can turn at 150p it would appear to be a good trade.

Ah !! :-D

...bit tongue in cheek PHIL , said it as a New Year`s resolution from memory... and on one of many bad days.

Plan on holding for a while yet, hoping we`re more or less at bottom around here.

In fact added a few on wednesday (2k @ 140.4p post 1069)

Good weekend PHIL

I`ve no problem at all with the one liners , but it`s a shame they don`t state their position in the stock e.g short from 170p.

It would at least make them credible as anyone can just look around for a share that`s bombing and write "10p by the end of march" just for the hell of it.

Still, no harm done ....... and I`m seeing the lovely Imogen Stubbs tomorrow :-D

(ShareCast News)

- Consumers in Britain pulled back on spending at the end of 2015 by far more than analysts had expected.

UK retail sales volumes fell by 1.0% month-on-month (consensus: -0.1%) in December and by an even sharper 1.4% when sales of petrol are excluded, according to the Office for National Statistics.

In comparison to a year ago, retail sales volumes were left standing up by 2.6% (consensus: 4.3%) and by another 1.1% in terms of quarterly rates of change.
