10/2/2010 07:06 | Porvair wins new nuclear filtration orders Porvair plc ("Porvair"), the specialist filtration and environmental technology grouptoday announces that its Microfiltration division has had further success in the last week and has won orders amounting to GBP500,000 for nuclear filtration gas clean up filters, for UK AGR reactors and other development orders. The gas clean up filters for UK AGR reactors form a critical part of the gas heat transfer system at the core of the reactor. In normal operation they serve as a filter in the gas drying stage of the reactors heat exchanger and provide vent protection when the reactor pressure is released for routine maintenance and refueling. The development orders are for US nuclear fuel production and waste handling projects in France. If successful these could lead to further, much larger orders from 2011. These orders help to underpin the Microfiltration division's expected revenue from the nuclear market and are further confirmation of Porvair's successful strategy of targeting selected markets. Ben Stocks, CEO of Porvair, commented: "Porvair's Microfiltration division has enjoyed considerable success in developing its position as a leading supplier of gas clean up filters for the nuclear industry. The contracts won this week further demonstrate Porvair's market leading capability in filters for the nuclear industry." | whatgoesupcomesdown

26/1/2010 10:06 | IF it delivers! This has been the promise for nearly a decade from Stocks and it is yet to happen. In the good times the results are average, in the difficult times they are poor. They have £14m of borrowings, nearly £9m of pension liabilities and no likelihood of raising further cash for acquisitions. They ought to be bought but who would want them; even the Italian seems to have lost interest. The city has certainly lost interest, hence the disinvestment of Schroders last year. The only way to improve the share price is a change of CEO to rejuvinate interest in the city. | nondom
26/1/2010 08:05 | Decent results. Looks set for a strong 2010 and if it delivers these are very cheap. | ![]() thepopeofchillitown
26/1/2010 07:10 | RNS Number : 1001G Porvair PLC 26 January 2010 ? For immediate release 26 January 2010 Preliminary results for the year ended 30 November 2009 Porvair plc ("Porvair"), the specialist filtration and environmental technology group, today announces its preliminary results for the year ended 30 November 2009. Financial highlights * Revenues for the year were GBP55.2m (2008: GBP54.8m). * Profit before tax and exceptional items was GBP1.7m (2008: GBP4.2m), almost all generated in the second half of the year. Profit before tax was GBP1.1m (2008: GBP4.2m). * Cash generated from operations of GBP6.0m (2008: GBP4.2m), well ahead of the prior year. * Net debt reduced to GBP13.9m (2008: GBP16.7m). * Final dividend of 1.25 pence per share (2008: 1.25p) maintained. Operating highlights * The results for the year are dominated by the sharp fall in demand at Metals Filtration in the first half as aluminium and US automotive de-stocking fed through the supply chain. * The business reacted swiftly to address costs where necessary. Over the course of the year Group headcount was cut by 15%. * The second half of the year was better with sales rates in the US firming in the final quarter. The Group was profitable and cash generative for the year as whole. * Good strategic progress was made, despite the prevailing conditions. The benefits of revenue from new products, cautious geographic expansion and the integration of recent acquisitions can be seen in the results for the year. * Seal Analytical, the water analysis business acquired in 2008, had a strong first year with the Group, generating profits growth and a good cash return on investment. Commenting on the results and outlook, Ben Stocks, Chief Executive, said: "Current levels of demand across the business have been stable for several months. 2010 has started satisfactorily. Revenue run rates in the US are 10-15% ahead of the lows reached in early 2009. Order books in Microfiltration are at reasonable levels. "The Board has set a cautious plan for 2010, recognising the uncertainties of the global economic situation. Nonetheless the Board sees grounds for guarded optimism. Microfiltration starts the year with a satisfactory order book and a promising pipeline of larger nuclear and energy orders. It is expanding its presence in Europe, the US and China. The Metals Filtration division is benefiting from a lower cost base such that modest increases in monthly revenues will improve results. Growth from new products will continue in 2010. The Board is confident that Porvair is well positioned to benefit as economic conditions improve." | whatgoesupcomesdown
03/12/2009 10:55 | If that is true then it is excellent news Garth - with DYS suspended and unable to agree funding with their banks, PRV will be able to get their business for next to nothing. A bit like how CPR profited from Allied's demise, see the CPR share price now .. wow this one could really move !!!!! | ukinvestor220

02/12/2009 08:40 | ukinvestor220, I imagine that 25k was a buy. It's not the sort of volume you can do online at the moment so they must have been on the phone to their broker and talking to market makers, probably before 8am. So I think the 25k @ 55p deal was probably struck before the market makers moved the price up. | ![]() typo56
02/12/2009 08:21 | well - someone sold 25K @ 55p first thing so there may be a seller around still but they should either give up or clear soon unless they are keen on throwing money away !! | ukinvestor220

02/12/2009 07:13 | Not a bad trading statement this morning. Net debt reduction better than expectations. It sounds like the recent fall prompted them to release the statement a week earlier than usual. "The Boards view is that the steady improvement in Selees trading; the market acceptance of its new proprietary aluminium and iron foundry filters; a strengthening order book in Microfiltration; and the Groups proven cash generating ability give grounds for cautious optimism. The Board does not believe that the recent share price weakness reflects this." | ![]() typo56
01/12/2009 20:54 | The pricing of these shares is bizarre. Every day they appear to have risen when in fact they have fallen, but as the closing price is put down about 20% its not surprising there is a rise shown each day. One reason is that there have been several largish sells at or near the close. Anyway, I managed to buy 2000 today at 52.5. Given that these have bounced off this level twice before to reach 70p I think its a good entry level. | ![]() london calling

01/12/2009 11:19 | Investoree Just passing and saw your comment. It's been a strong rally for many stocks this year, so even more painful if you've had a disastrous year. Don't know what your method of stock picking is but if you have been outperformed by the wider market, it sounds like maybe you ought to go back and review your criteria ? Good luck | scsw2
01/12/2009 11:10 | Could be the brokers trying to find a floor for the share price before the (probably not very good) year end results? Not sure if this is strickly kosher but it does happen. | nondom

01/12/2009 08:19 | This has happened every morning for the last few days - then the price drops back at the end of trading. I have topped up twice At 64P and 56P having participated in the rights issue some years ago at £2.60 the knife keeps relentlessly falling. This has been a disastrous year for my stock picking. | ![]() investoree
