Nice to see PMP getting the tiniest amount of share price appreciation :-)

Sorry you are right. At 120/130 per therm there is not a big issue.

I suggest checking the calculation. I have: gas usage in 2021 at 39m KwH per AR, which converts to 1.3m therms; 1.3m x 0.25 = £406k.

on the presentation today - planning to contract energy post Q124 within the next year - and introduce price increases to mitigate any additional energy costs whilst driving towards higher operating margin target of 12.5%.

Great results and forecast, but i think the market is still cautious with the company considering the inflated energy prices. Their hedge protects them until q124, what will happen after that? As a previous poster calculated 25p/therm increase would costa them an extra 10m a year.

https://masterinvestor.co.uk/equities/small-cap-catch-up-on-the-way-up/Portmeirion Group (LON:PMP) – 600p Price ObjectiveAs it recovers from the Pandemic hassles this pottery and homewares group is pushing its sales and profitability higher.Yesterday's results for the year to end December 2022 showed revenues of £110.8m (£106.0m), with adjusted pre-tax profits of £8.0m (£7.2m) generating earnings of 46.8p (38.7p) enabling a treble covered dividend of 15.5p (13.0p) per share.Analyst Sahill Shan at Singer Capital Markets rates the group's shares as a Buy, with a 600p price objective. For the current year he looks for £113.4m sales, £9.5m profits, 51.7p earnings and a 17.22p dividend.Singer's suggest that the group will progress gradually over the next few years, going for £120.4m sales in 2024 and £125.7m in 2025, lifting profits to £11.4m and £12.6m respectively. That would see earnings up to 62.3p then 68.5p a share, amply covering dividends of 20.76p then 22.82p per share. This continues to be a very appealing investment story. The £52m capitalised group's shares rose 7% on the results to close last night at 376p after touching 380p during the day.

Decent results in a tough market.I bought here just after the emergency fund raising in 2020.....Quite why I did n't sell when they recovered to 600p is a question I keep asking myself! However this is a decent company with good brands & good value even in todays market of cheap smallcap valuations.

There is 27% dilution in the numbers of shares from 2019 so that is not a fair comparison, their energy costs are hedged until Q1 2024 so i am sure we will see a rerating soon , just be patient and collect the 4% div.

yep I think its cheap given the defensive nature of the business. or looking at it another way, a good margin of safety

Given that the profits are not far away from the prepandemic numbers,(Which surprises me given the energy cost rises in an energy intense business), why is the share price still only a third of the 2019 prices?

That is beginning to look like a significant upward trend. Results out on 23rd.

Not the most exciting stock, may well just sell off until results. So long as they don't throw an outlook spanner in the works, may see a bounce then. For then weakness imo

Yeah given its lowly rating and reasonable TU, surprising to see this fall back today. But thinly traded so moves on just the odd buy / sell.

I think the prospects are quite good actually - demand for their type of product should hold up well and China re-opening will help. On the supply side they have their energy costs hedged until Jan 24 which looks an extremely smart move - and freight costs falling.

Tiny snippet from Stocko's Paul Scott(copyright reasons)...

My opinion - thumbs up, this looks dirt cheap, and is overdue a strong bounce I think. (no section below). One of my top picks for 2023.

As expected, update released:-

We are pleased to report a strong Christmas trading period with robust demand across our portfolio of consumer goods brands. As a result, FY22 sales are now expected to be at least £110 million, 4% ahead of 2021 and 4% ahead of consensus market expectations. Group sales are now 18% above pre-Covid 2019 levels.

We expect FY22 profit before taxation to be 10% above the prior year and now ahead of pre-Covid 2019 levels, with improved operating margins and in line with market expectations.

Finally, seeing the bid lifted, hopefully a signal the person who's had the long standing tap going had nearly finished. Could we see an update from the company very soon?
