They've shut the factory for three weeks but one week of that is regular planned Easter holiday. And they claim to have good depth of stock, and will continue to supply customers around the world.
But yes, will they reopen in three weeks?

You are right. There's no doubt that many investors are underestimating the financial effects of the shutdown.

There are mitigating factors: the various government support schemes; the maintenance of the internet channel; and in the case of PMP, the excellent NHS contract.

But there will still be a very negative overall effect and given that the fantastic and fantasist UK government has completely mishandled the outbreak, I suggest factories may be closed for a lot longer.

PS No position currently, but like the company a lot. Not dirt cheap enough in the current circumstances.

Hello,
Does it concern anyone that Portmeirion has shut down it's factories for 3 weeks?
Is it possible the shares are going to drop a lot further as a lot of retail is going to be closed in different countries?
There is still online sales, but I don't think it will make up the difference?

I guess this is the essence:
------
Far Eastern markets, which were first hit by the virus, are now starting to return to normal and we are pleased to be taking significant orders from our export markets. Similarly our supply chains and sourced factories in this part of the world have also resumed work.
-----------
It's possible China recovery means there is hope of read across for ROW recovery within like time frame. share price was 25% up when I started typing, now 33.33% up.

Pottery isn't exactly a must have item. I think they went down more than most co's since 14/2/20 normality, so perhaps part of todays increase is recognition that China normal life extends to such "pretty" over function consumer goods.

They are still at around 40% of the share price pre 14/2/20.
IMO

I learnt many years ago to give shares trending down or issuing profit earnings a wide bearth

Love it! :-)

I bought yesterday. Don't see why they can't get back to 1000p in the next 2-3 years, provided they can prevent the reshipping into South Korea, and they say they are on that now. The reshipping cost them because they had to create exclusive new ranges for the long-term distributor and that impacted efficiency, so if they can eliminate that then all may be good?

Because of Brexit, I find Portmeirion's increasing international reach attractive. The dividend yield is reasonable as well. I dipped my toe in today on the acquisition news.
