asparks in a word ...'Yes' .... plenty of time left on it for price influencing newsflow

garth ... it's what the revenues will be when and if PYF's core technology proves to be commercial and more advanced / cost effective than competitors.
If 2009 is commercialisation then by end of 2008 then this should be reflected in share price (as per CRA ... technology still undergoing developement but probable succss of that developement starting now to befactored in to SP).

Don,

Its a great technology story, but the reality is that over the INTERIM period they had £300K of revenue and lost £2.2M

They made this statement:

"Going forward we are firmly focused on supporting our customers along three
paths to commercialisation and we are making good progress on all fronts. We
have refocused our resources internally to ensure our expertise can best be
channeled where it's needed. This has allowed us to reduce overall expenditure
levels and significantly lower our projected cash requirements such that we now have sufficient cash to finance the business into the second half of 2009, by which time we believe that our customers test market activities will have led to commercial business for PolyFuel."

In other words, they hope that by the time the cash runs out they will have started to receive "commercial business". That's not EDITDA break even or profitability - its just commercial business......

In the current markets, with solid, some profitable tech businesses trading on less than 8x projected earnings I don't understand the attractions of a business that is still 2 years away from "commercial business", will be running a close thing as to whether they get there with the cash they have, and has a share price in decline.

Just an opinion though - I hold no position and never have. I keep half an eye on the sector though - and have done for a number of years.

G.

Well, they were originally placed at 51p. Given they peaked in to 3 figures then present mid-price of 19.5p is somewhat disapppointing even under present market conditions. I 'hope' we get some positve news before too long. So I await with interest also

So we know they're the best - the question that remains is when and how this story will emerge. I watch with increasing interest.

small fuel cells conference April 2008

11:00 Advances in Hydrocarbon Membrane Development

Philip Cox, PhD,Vice President of Product Development, PolyFuel Inc.

PolyFuel's current generation of hydrocarbon fuel cell membranes exhibit methanol crossover levels that are 1/2 to 2/3 of those of competing fluorocarbon membranes. PolyFuel's membranes are being incorporated into a rapidly increasing share of DMFC systems that have been demonstrated by the leading portable fuel cell system developers. While pleased with this accomplishment, PolyFuel recognizes that there is still room for continued improvement, and with the support of funding from the Advanced Technology (ATP) Program within the National Institute for Standards and Technology (NIST), PolyFuel has embarked on a 24 month program to reduce the level of fuel crossover by a further 75% from PolyFuel's current low levels, without negatively impacting the electrochemical performance of the fuel cell itself. PolyFuel will provide an update on the progress toward the development of this next generation hydrocarbon membrane for portable DMFC applications.

Might be assembling the fuel cells, but I can't imagine they're making their own membranes - it's a bit specialised surely?

Motorola are certainly developing their own - don't think they are associated with PYF.

Mmmmmm, I thought it rang a bell somewhere. Now all we need is the launch schedule so I can time my buy properly, lol.

It will be interesting to see what Motorola demonstrates at Barcelona (3GSM). If anyone's attending they could ask some questions about their fuel cells...

Customers

Since its December 11th trading update, PolyFuel has extended its customer base
from 18 to now 19 of the world's leading fuel cell system developers, the
majority of which are major consumer electronics companies, including NEC, Sanyo
and Samsung.

Quiet here. Still lots going on with fuel cells though - couple of interesting snippets here. Are either of these pyf customers?

Interesting Mark Campion was one of the leading advocates of the AIM listing which allows a US Company to avoid some of the Sarbanes Oxley overheads. So I wonder what changes the new CFO will bring.

Well, let's check back in 12 months and see who will have the last 'laugh' then, eh.....

So by my diary then one year on from 21 Dec 2007 is 21 Dec 2008 (not 10 Jan 2008)....

Well, this is what can happen to existing laptop batteries....

Shares in LG Electronics and LG Chem have fallen after a laptop computer exploded, which LG Electronics said contained an LG Chem battery.

Wonder what the next news we will get from PYF. In February this year they gave a trading update ahead of its preliminary results for the year ended 31 December 2006. So presume we should get similar next month for year end 2007...

asparks - I do, it is just that I am getting anoyed with the economic effect that growing biofuels is having and the fact that it is a not really a solution. ROMag looks interesting. I quite like tidal (not wave) but for some strange reason this only seems to be fairly small scale developments, I am bias as living in the channel islands we have massive tides, and the only way this would stop working is if the Moon fell out of orbit.

morgs - you forget that biofuels are only one type of alternative energy. Others such as solar (check out ROMag) have no damaging side-effects and will soar in 2008 IMO

Well I am still happy with this and feel that this has yet to have its day in the sun.
Speaking of next year (not nessearly PYF but the Alternative Fuel Sector)

I reckon next year will see a realignment in (so called) green portfolios when they [the general consensus] start to realise that biofuels are not carbon neutral nor a green alternative, in fact probably worse and cause just as much damage as fossil. If I could find the link I would but there was a very good article in New Scientist. Basically based on the amount of available land, irrigation and the amount of water required and other damaging effects such as deforrestation for production.
