07/11/2006 16:18 | Charles stanley and TDWaterhouse are two completely different financial groups ... no relationship between em PS: In my opinion, FasTrade and TDW are the two best internet execution only brokers out there - but TDW have the edge as they also cover SG Covered Warrants and Listed CFD's in addition to shares and warrants. | don muang
07/11/2006 16:16 | Don - I'm a newcomer to this trading & investing lark. Made some good profits in the spring, but lost much more in the May fall :-( | asparks
07/11/2006 16:13 | "thought FasTrade were part of Charles Stanley ..... ?!" You are right - is Charles Stanley part of TD Waterhouse? "Wish I'd bought the share, not the wts! Hey ho..can't win 'em all.." Warrants are fine when the underlying share is going up but ... I lost a fortune with warrants when the market fell out of bed in 2000/2001. | david77
07/11/2006 15:44 | might be worth looking for a secondhand copy of: The Investor's Guide to Warrants Book. Andrew McHattie's bestselling classic text from 1996 - "still the most comprehensive introduction to the subject". Ps.... asparks .... I'd have thought that given your prolifc postings across the advfn boards that you'd be red hot on warrants already ..... ??i | don muang

07/11/2006 14:28 | 7/11/06 PolyFuel develops new fuel cell membrane; sees booming demand for product LONDON (AFX) - PolyFuel Inc said it has developed a new fuel cell membrane capable of delivering nearly 1.4 times the power density of any other currently available. This will allow a significant reduction in the size, weight and cost of the fuel cell "stack," being developed by manufacturers of consumer applications such as notebook computers and cell phones to deliver extended runtimes. The new cell will also allow greater water diffusion which can eliminate the need for pumps and other components of water recovery systems, which are especially problematic in products intended for smaller applications such as cell phones or PDAs. The company estimates the market for handheld devices alone at over a bln units per year, and said "a commercial portable fuel cell market is imminent" looking at booming demand and recent technological improvements. The company's release also cited a 2006 report from Frost and Sullivan which estimated that sales of consumer portable fuel cells will reach over 38 mln units by 2009, with commercial product introductions projected in 2007-2008. Sure to cause a stir in the technology sector , todays announcement could be responsible for a recovery PYM's stock price in the medum term , technically appealing also on the charts , hitting support at the yr old issue price. | blackbear
07/11/2006 14:28 | Yes the technogy is great, the Board have the right credentials and they have a product everyone will want soon. However until they have some orders under their belt the share price may struggle.I am a big fan of PYF but like to see when they will start making profits... | nurdin
07/11/2006 14:13 | A few new faces, I will bring you up to speed re the 'S' constraint on the share. No US investors are permitted in these shares, there are VC's involved in the US which hold other issued stock. Shares must be traded and settled on a ledger and cannot utilise electronic settlements, which is why it is not on CREST This was done to avoid the cost of Sarbanes Oxley compliance which is saving them some six figure sum a year. At some point this will be dropped but there is no requirement for any form of fund raising so a main listing is not financially efficient. I am a big fan of this lot and if you are new you should look at the CV's of some of the board, not small fry for a Silicon Valley stock. | morgs
07/11/2006 14:02 | buying seems to be picking up. | asparks
07/11/2006 13:55 | thought FasTrade were part of Charles Stanley ..... ?! PS... pity the warrants have only a couple of months till expiry | don muang
07/11/2006 13:54 | I have a Crest a/c with Fastrade (part of TD Waterhouse). I bought PYF today thru them. | david77
07/11/2006 13:43 | asparks - because TDW are useless. had an account with them for years , use them rarely.. very annoying when the Sp is moving. | blackbear
07/11/2006 13:36 | asparks - thanks for info, its a pain to keep two accounts going as don't like to split cash, however this share may be worth it. Interesting that sentiment towards the share (in terms of crash since May) very similar to ITM's despite the fact that these guys appear to be ahead of the curve in terms of commercialisation. That stated ITM have far more fire power currently with the amount of cash in bank, and superficially appear to have a better control on costs. Still need to do my research and consider whether I can put up the hassle of dealing with two brokers. | leighbarton
07/11/2006 13:28 | leigh - yes I purchased £2000K worth with TDW this am Personally I prefer selftrade. I cant understand why purchased take so long to process with TDW. I also got SIT with TDW and am sitting on a 50% loss - but am cautiously optimisitic in long term | asparks
07/11/2006 13:21 | Looks like I am going to have a little time to research this as it is not a Crest settlement share as a result of which SelfTrade won't handle it. Last time this happened to me was SIT which promptly issued a financial warning the next day which saw the shares tumble 67% - hope this is not a sign;) Does TDW deal in non Crest shares? in which case I might have to re-open my dormant account. | leighbarton
07/11/2006 13:18 | some other recnt news that is relevant Polyfuel Sees Demand for Fuel Cell Membranes Double 25 September 2006 Author: Provider: Adfero PolyFuel has seen its shipments of engineered membranes for use in fuel cells double in the last six months, as the firm reported an upturn in profits. In the six months leading up to June 30th, shipments rapidly outstripped the corresponding period one year ago, with over 1,000 pieces of PolyFuel membrane being transported. The company added three new customers during the half-year, as it continued to expand its clientele, with 15 leading firms now on board. PolyFuel, which specialises in the development of hydrocarbon-based fuel cell membranes for portable power applications, said it had seen demand grow. An increased emphasis on longer runtimes and alternative power sources, particularly in light of safety concerns associated with the recent recalls of lithium ion batteries, helped drive sales. Chief executive officer Jim Balcom said he was "very encouraged by the growing consumer and market demand". "Overall we feel very positive about the prospects for PolyFuel in the fuel cell membrane arena," he added. As well as the sustained growth in the consumer electronics sector, PolyFuel said it had begun to take orders for applications in industry, transport and homeland security. 07/11/2006 12:55 | From memory thre was significant grant Revenue in 2005. Nope. A brokers note long way back said 2007 (again from memory) with the real action starting in 2008. Nobody knows when Revenue will really ramp-up. Fuel-cells and Hydrogen membranes are still predominantly in the lab and test arena. What or who will spark the breakthrough is a known unknown. The pace of the breakthrough is an unknown unknown. Or something like that .. But if this is the technology that breaks through then PYF do seem to be in pole position and this announcement and the naming of Samsung adds to their pre-emminent position. imho dyor... (and never shortcut the research lol...) | unionhall
07/11/2006 12:53 | I think we will find the price rise once the american markets open | asparks
07/11/2006 12:31 | Just taking a look at this stock on the back of this announcement. Can anyone help me with why revenues in the first 6 months of 2006 dipped so much in relation to same period 2005? The company states it is looking at commercialisation for 2007/8, have these recent announcements bought that forward? Has the company made any statement of when it expects to reach profitability? Sorry just looking to short cut some of my research. Already into ITM and this looks like a sensible investment to go alongside that. | leighbarton
