2015. We are now 2019. The FCA are wet nut it is PRA and FCA registered. It is a risk not a scam. Risks are made quite clear. I won’t touch CFD’s. Plus is an amoral rather seedy but credible company which bends the rules a bit it seems. Not unlike RBS/ Lloyds/Barclays/Tesco/VW etc. All credible companies.
Plus just needs to adapt to a different regulated landcape or wither away.

I stumbled across a video from Simon Cawkwell (2015) [find it on Youtube] where he says he's had evidence put to him that Plus500 is a scam, and the regulators should investigate. He doesn't say what it is, but it was enough for me to do some digging and see what I could find if I looked for the contrary view.

Here's the video

Don’t feed him. It’s what he’s here for. Filter or ignore and he will go elsewhere. It only keeps him here.

Fiddling the accounts:
Gross Revenue $82.0m
positive customer performance $28.1m
SG&A:
User acquisitions $26.2m
Admin "low fixed costs" $17.2m
= Q1 EBIT $10.5 million.
10. Million. Dollars.

Thanks LK - I was going to look at the numbers in that way too,
Did you use half of the second half for the Admin costs ?
$10m x 4 = $40m for the year - and what dividend to pay from that guys ?

Ermmm.....

It's a conservative fixed costs estimate extracted from the annual report.

lean cost structure now equals bloated regulatory compliance

The Company continued to keep costs under control? like Non-marketing and non-processing costs up by 55%
Administrative & general runs at $9.8mn a quarter but theres a whole bunch at least $7mn of other fixed schemes burning up the cash quarterly.

eg Lots & lots of "payroll" squirreled away in various notes.
& is general other advertising & marketing bundled into AUAC
These procedures comprise a range of measures including corporate policies, operating rules, systematic reporting, external audits, internal audits, self-assessment and continuous monitoring by the Regulatory & Risk Committee, the Board and the executive management team.

IMO Plus500 will have to restructure to reset its costs.

ElCap, are you sure these folk literally went bust? If so, it would not so much be a case of getting stock selection wrong, but moronic risk control.

But I guess I’m an investor on stocks (and bonds and other stuff) and most people on ADVFN are short-termist lunatics and go virtually all-in on the exciting stuff. I used to use iii to discuss stocks, but they utterly wrecked the portal a couple of years back - I had been contributing since 1999. I remember being Uber-bearish on an internet incubator called Oxygen: if you think you get a hard time here, I was threatened with a bullet in the head by all sorts. Literally - it was like something out of the Blues Brothers. Oxygen went bust, of course.

One more thing to add here. Why I say the minimum for the whole year is 200m.

We have 53m already
We only need 1q from the remaining 3 to be at similar level with Q4 2018 and you are already at >200m. Also, q4 2018 includes ESMA effect...
