01/3/2017 11:19 | @sheep - I think the operative word is "cross-selling" are you aware that Montreal has some 9mn+ tourists per year and about 6mn+ business visitors - so relative to the 4mn inhabitats there are 4 times as many visitors who don't know the city. Tourist spend alone is $2.9bn p.a. in montreal I think you can replicate that set of statistics globally in any major city - that is a huge market. PAYS fans software could mean someone From Beijing who has GOLO and is on a business trip or holiday to NY could avail of a service - in an increasingly global world the potential is huge. the beauty with PAYS is we already have an existing global user base - skrill relaunch " shopping" tab added - how long before we see GOLO tab also - not long would be my guess. | wolfhound1
01/3/2017 10:13 | It must be aimed at consumers outside of their normal area where they don't know the local shops. That would at least make some sense. | sheep_herder

01/3/2017 05:26 | Not technically minded but, is it like Paypal mobile app or Google Wallet ? Businesses sign up as merchants then presumably they will appear on your mobile as being available to make payments to, you click on the supplier, call, place your order and pay, Seems to be mostly aimed at restaurants and takeaways so that your scran is ready when you get there bit like that justeat app Its trialling in montreal and then they will roll it out to so it will be a while before it starts making a significant contribution. | s2lowner
28/2/2017 21:21 | Benefits for businesses •Improved reach - local merchants get to access a larger, online and mobile customer base •Improved efficiency – reduced overhead versus typical bricks and mortar model •Enhanced customer insights – customer segmentation and promotional tools to better target customers •Safe and secure – payments are instantly transferred to merchant bank accounts GOLO is all about delivering scaleable payments innovation that helps to support the 'shop local' movement with a focus initially on small- to medium-sized businesses serving the community through selling merchandise and everyday essentials. Paysafe Chief Operating Officer Danny Chazonoff says: "GOLO was born from a desire to help both businesses and consumers benefit from our innovative payments expertise. Simplicity and convenience are at the heart of GOLO, a mobile solution that helps local neighbourhoods come alive digitally with a service that saves consumers time and money and generates more sales opportunities for businesses." Benoit Godin, who has owned his florist business Vertuose for more than 13 years, has adopted GOLO's mobile order-ahead platform. "I finally feel like I have a place to compete and offer my clients a digital experience," Godin says. "And by being on the web and on mobile, GOLO brings us visibility for people on the block, even those who don't know us. For a single-store florist, that's pretty good!" Montreal-based restaurants group Foodtastic, which serves around 50,000 customers every week across its Carlos & Pepe's, La Belle et La Boeuf, Nickels, Souvlaki Bar and Vinnie Gambini's outlets, is another of the 100+ businesses now available on GOLO. "So many people are walking around, phone in hand. They want something there and then. And GOLO seems like a very promising solution for us to give them exactly that. It's why we're onboard," says Foodtastic Chief Executive Peter Mammas. Philippe Marois, the Chief Operating Officer leading the GOLO business adds: "Mobile ordering is really taking off in North America. In the US alone, it is predicted by some forecasts to generate more than $60bn in payment value in 2017* and more than $314bn by 2020. So far, only the big retailers have really explored this trend successfully." Marois adds: "With GOLO, we're creating an opportunity for local retailers – the neighbourhood's florist, bagel shop or artisan store – to really benefit from digital ordering. Users can buy local with all the convenience of shopping – and paying – on their mobile. GOLO gives you your neighbourhood at your fingertips." The GOLO app can be downloaded for free from the App Store or Google Play, or shop online at hxxps://www.gololoca | malcolmmm

28/2/2017 19:42 | Can someone explain the idea behind GOLO? I can't see why anyone would want to pay for something ahead of walking into a local shop to pick it up? If I'm out buying bagels, what benefit do I have to look up the shop on my phone, navigate to find the product, pay for it, then walk to the shop to pick it up? Why would I not just walk in and pay via card or Apple/Google Pay? This sounds like one of those solutions to a problem that isn't there. | sheep_herder
