The effect on PAYS would be potentially complex, e.g. share price would probably be restrained and potential debt financing costs would rise but an acquisition target could become cheaper. OS99 - I don't think proximity of results is relevant in this case as BMO hold a pre-determined mandate probably extending to a limited share price which looks to be around 400p.
