You don't need 3D seismic to know what's under the licences.

Yeah! Some oil, but is it commercial?

If you get a large area and get someone to crunch the number you come up with large reserves. But is it commercial?

And if the reserve number is large enough and you take a low recovery rate, perhaps 10%, that is a lot of oil in place. But is it commercial?

The large players know it isn't commercial. Dribs and drabs. But no reservoir.

Sure you can frac it but with the decline rates it is hardly commercial.

That's why there's no competition for leases. And no farm in interest in all probability. A nice story to sell to the mug punter. But the big player doesn't think it is commercial. And leaves it alone.
