Large chunks of ice break loose into Jones Sound, a waterway between Ellesmere and Devon Islands in Qikiqtaaluk, Nunavut, Canada.

Situated on the northern point of North America, this region experiences an extreme temperature range, exceeding 50°F (10°C) in summer

and dropping as low as -58°F (-50°C) in the winter.

In fact, its climate is more similar to Mars than almost any other place on Earth, making it an attractive area for scientists interested

in terraforming the “Red Planet”.

Istanbul Airport is the main international airport serving Istanbul, Turkey.

It opened in fall of 2018 and took over all commercial passenger flights from Istanbul Atatürk Airport, which was not large enough

to handle increasing passenger traffic.

The airport’s main terminal, seen in the top half and second Overview, has an annual passenger capacity of 90 million and an area of

15.5 million square feet (1.44 million square meters) — making it the world’s largest airport terminal building under a single roof.

Beirut is the capital and largest city of Lebanon.

Our thoughts are with the people of Beirut today after a massive explosion shook the city’s port and surrounding areas.

The explosion — which currently has an unknown cause — was followed by an intense shock wave that shook buildings and shattered windows for miles.

Reports said it was felt as far away as Cyprus (roughly 180 miles (290km) away).
