Not sure. It might be that we have been asymptomatic and had very mild symptoms (we have had some of the symptoms but very mild) and therefore could have antibodies, then that would be ok. However, we do need to have a test to determine if this is the case, or we have a vaccine. I don't think we would go without the antibodies or a vaccine.

Alex,
Will you travel if there is no vaccine?

We already have 3 cruises booked - 2 in December (12-19 Dec 20, and 19 Dec 20 to 3 Jan 21) on P&O Iona (new ship this later year) and we have 21 day cruise from Sydney to Hong Kong in March 2021 on Princess Cruises ship Majestic Princess. Both were booked prior to the COVID-19 Pandemic.

Really looking forward to getting on board again. Really missing it.

Today is Easter Sunday, and while St. Peter’s Basilica in the Vatican City would normally be packed for the Pope’s Easter Service, it is empty.

The Vatican, like Italy, is in lockdown to prevent the spread of Coronavirus.

This Overview was captured years before quarantine went into effect, but still illustrates the quiet of a normally bustling cultural attraction.

Pope Francis’ Easter Homily was streamed live today from St. Peter’s Basilica to millions around the world.

Neon Luminance is part of a collaboration between Sean Lenz and Kristoffer Abildgaard over at From the Lenz.

The duo dropped high-powered Cyalume glow sticks in a variety of colors into various waterfalls in Northern California

and then made exposures varying from 30 seconds to 7 minutes to capture the submerged trails of light as the sticks moved through the current.

Darrin/Alex,

Yes, the question about when regular cruisers will start booking again will be crucial.....
Could cruise companies go several months without any income?

They don't appear to be getting much help from governments because of the 'flags/incorporation' of convenience'

I have CCL on my watchlist.
LLOYs - I bought some after the divi was cut as the share price is priced with the divi cut as a known risk.

I have a few I'm drip feeding or on my watchlist but am in no hurry..

Energetic Light Paintings Highlight Nature’s Innate Beauty

Photographer Vitor Schietti has a growing collection of impermanent visions of illuminated landscapes.

Using long exposure shots, the Brazilian artist produces dynamic light paintings that capture natural elements in both urban and rural settings.

The images he creates are alive with movement, as the lights appear to rain down from the trees and flow with the water.

Schietti’s shots accentuate the natural beauty that is all around us.

The Yonaguni Underwater Mystery

The Yonaguni Monument is a massive underwater rock formation off the coast of Yonaguni in Japan.

While many archaeologists and geologists believe that it is a natural formation, some hold the view that some of its features are man-made.

Some claim it’s a pyramid like figure with stepped structures with terraces and ramps.

Tool marks and carvings have been discovered upon the stones which indicate that they have were constructed rather than being natural stone structures.

Some scholars think that over 2000 years ago this monument sunk because of an earthquake, others believe it dates back to the ice age.

Yet the scientific community as a whole hold the belief that it is a rock not a man made structure

Hi Alex
Are you happy to go back to cruising as soon as they open or will you want to wait for a vaccination to be available. Will other travelers feel the same.
I assume there will be lots of new cruise ships in the pipeline and increased capacity over the next few years.
I have been watching CCL and other travel shares. High risk and reward.

Hi STT - thanks for the heads up. Our next 2 cruises have been cancelled and our dividends from Lloyds have been stopped until the end of 2020. Maybe a good time to top up?? Only in LLOY and CCL so down a 'wee bit' but confident about a recovery later this year.

The Great Blue Hole is an underwater sinkhole off the coast of Belize. The hole is 1,000 feet across and 400 feet deep. It was formed as a limestone cave during the last ice-age.

Each September the Alaskan wood frogs freeze. Two-thirds of their body water turns to ice. If you picked them up, they would not move. If you bent one of their legs, it would break. Their hearts stop beating, their blood no longer flows and their glucose levels sky rocket. BUt then during the spring, they thaw out and return to normal.

A massive bloom of cyanobacteria is visible in the Baltic Sea. This Overview was featured in latest feature about cruise ships – link below to see the full story.

hxxps://www.over-view.com/stories/cruises

This area receives roughly 300 cruise ships each year and wastewater dumped by ships contains nitrogen and phosphorous that has been proven to feed these blooms. Large blooms can cause an oxygen-depleted dead zone where other organisms cannot survive

This drone shot shows a marble quarry in Carrara, Italy. The blue-grey marble extracted from this region is widely used in sculpture, like Michelangelo’s David, and in building decor like that of The Pantheon. With more than 650 active or abandoned quarry sites, more marble has been extracted here than any other place on Earth.

The Navigator of the Seas, seen here, was the largest cruise ship in the world upon its commissioning voyage in 2002, and it remained so until 2005. It is now only the thirtieth largest ship as the industry continues to build larger-capacity models to keep up with growing customer demands. With accommodations for 4,000 passengers and 1,200 crew members, the ship contains a surfing simulator, a basketball court, multiple pools, and an outdoor movie screen. Over a single day, cruise ships like the Navigator emit as much carbon dioxide as a million cars, while dumping hundreds of gallons of untreated sewage into the ocean.
