Bought some tranches over the last couple of days, Yozo, you're correct as to why... Dave, you're always in profit making stocks I seem to find with good PE and margins , I don't know you, but maybe a similar algo? Anyway, I think this will hit 20p in the coming weeks. Long much more.

Coal continuing to plummet in price - what a difference a few weeks make!

I suspect huge falls in coal price yesterday in particular driving the buying of OPG today.

jailbird, I'm on the sidelines watching Petrofac. But I take your point, there's nothing like doing your own research. Mustn't simply follow the herd or get sucked in by pundits.

Perhaps OPG will benefit from higher tariffs as the Indian economy recovers and demand for electricity rises...

seems stock is very much in demand.
i wonder if there is behind the scenes news on the solar disposal.
OR....
if there is some recovery from the first power plant.
i think i have a vague recollection that they still retain some ownership / recovery rights. sorry this is so not specific and happy to be corrected. but the demand for stock to me seems much more than playing the discounted CASH flow story.

another thought - go back to the rumours in the indian press last year re a bid at 19p a share from one of the major power companies. obviously the value of the power producing assets are worth a fortune but in the hands of a controlling shareholder, though the stock market rightly applies a significant discount.

if i were a major i would consider buying a 10% blocking stake.
this would stop any mover to take private,
and would thus give HUGE negotiating power for 'something'.

that something could even be to support a low ball bid to take private,
get some cheap power in a supply agreement,
and get the 10% bgt back at a later date.

anyway, just thoughts very much with holder bias!!

All IMHO, DYOR + BoL

105k paid a 0.25p premium.

By the time the mm's show it as delayed it's put through as a sale as normal

Looks like the trade of 105k that took place @12:34:36 (13.50/14) has been conveniently listed after the 68k trade that took place @13:10:30 (14/15). I suspect one is a sell while the other is a buy, but ADVFN shows them both as sells.

Great to see this pushing up But there has to be more to come 40p + when it finally re-rates and why I am hereRevenues, gearing and history of term loans being paid - make this attractive Expect coal to fall And why we not all like coal - it's there to stay for the next decade + in India ( not to mention this is "clean" PP) GLA

100k takes out the 12.33p online offer and now edging up to 12.44p but it's took a lot more buying than usual to move this one this morning

Not sure when the Moneyweek podcast gets released on Friday, I suspect it was during trading hours, and may have been the reason for the surge in trading volume.

According to the Edison coverage of OPG in March

"Using the rating of listed Indian peers suggests a target price of 42p a share. The range is 62p using EV/MW of capacity to 21p on a P/E basis. The differences mainly reflect downtime required to install new environmental equipment and timing differences on tax."

No quote for 10000 now
