The banks are moving up strongly this week.

Look at PAG and ALD.

I expect OSB could break out from here at any time and put on 5% very quickly from here.
Money is rotating in, definitely a bit more interest to me.

Sold the trading ones.

This stock far to predictable, how about a break out. The banks are looking very strong today.

Investec looking for 52.61 EPS and 18p dividend for next year.

So P/E is 7.5 here for "high teens" growth.

Mad.

Port, The way I see it, the market has tried to break out the stock to the upside and the downside since June.If you look at the chart, it hasn't been able to break 400p, but we are seeing a triangle formation here. Higher lows and lower highs. It will break out at some stage, all brokers excluding Numis have been impressed with results. Numis is sector wide negative and seem to hate the sector, despite rising profits. In OSBs case, they upgraded their H2 expectations. It's been frustrating, but the business is impressive.

@ Adam - Off the top of my head I think it's 11%, although it can vary between 9-13% depending on the nature of the capital (lower risk offers lower requirement).

If you go to the BoE website you should be able to download some pdf's of the various stress tests and stability reports they do, and one of them should contain the finer details about this. (assuming the figures aren't on the website itself, which they likely are somewhere or other).

Adam, Think Tier1 is 10.5% but don't quote me.Agree with your view, brokers - (apart from Investec) have been too conservative on forecasts IMHO.

Very good results this morning - difficult to know where to start with them! Market forecasts of 48p obviously need upgrading now to something in the 50s, so PE is now under 8x for the year. 2018 market forecasts of 50.9p also look stupid and need upping by at least 10...in fact, the current 2019 forecast of 55.2p looks relatively conservative for 2018.

Question for those with better regulatory knowledge than me - their Tier 1 capital is now 13.7%....what the regulatory min that they need to hold? Reason for asking is that I'm looking at all my investments in the context of what might happen in a downturn.
Thanks

Adam

I enjoyed the conference call very much, one thing is very apparent, this is a well run business, they have their hands on all the levers, knowing their customers intimately.

I honestly expected a 30p rise this morning minimum, I suppose if the 400p level is broken we will rise sharply from there as we have spent 3 months gaining energy to leave this price range.

The business growth has accelerated since last results. They are being very careful on risk profile too, withdrawing from selected lines.

One analyst suggested a 20p special dividend, such is their capital surplus, they may do this if they don't find investments over the next six moments. I'm very pleased with these results.

Hhhhmmm, Peel Hunt have curiously issued two notes today (@7:52 and 9:21), but I haven't been able to find either to know if there's a difference between them. I assume the second one just contains a correction but...??? Can't recall the last time I seen a broker issue two notes in the same day though, so a bit of a mystery.

Anyway... very happy with these results. I've topped up several times on the way down, mistiming it mostly as my top-up average is only 397p. But at least I'm finally in profit on that now!
