This thread is very quiet for a UK main bank thread

See if this livens it up a bit

======= If you believe in Chart cycles and repeats =========

Also if you believe in Great Depression events and repeats in a much quicker modern technology time-frame albeit still governed by the duration of the MACRO causation event which now is Covid-19 .

That is to say this New Great Depression will last until Covid-19 is eradicated

A fall from 375 ish to 40 or a 90% drop

History in charts repeats

Things on exchanges move quicker these days , hence 2021 ok maybe going into 2022 if the drop starts in earnest sometime in mid 2021 but this coming depression will IMO be much worse than the previous one above.

But a hard bear market fall for 12 months when it starts is buywells call

buywell has been saying this for some time as fans will know but others are picking up on it

The Stock Market Barely Faltered in the 1918-20 Pandemic. Is History Repeating Itself?

It's no more than a possibility, so it goes on the back burner while we see how everything develops.

I'm not missing the point polar.

If they stop the trucks (easily done) what do they do with the surplus?

You're missing the point, maxk. I'm talking about stopping the trucks and similar. Fishing Wars etc.

polar.

You are getting carried away from your more normal fairly balanced views.

Normal folk on the continent are going to do exactly what with their overwhelming goods surplus...€U v GB?

Commit economic suicide for the further glory of the fourth reich?

Do you think this likely??

Uh oh - this article just posted on IG, timed just before 7pm.

Q

NatWest shares set to slide after tapping £5bn from BoE for SMEs

The UK lender could see its shares come under increased pressure after it withdrew £5 billion from a Bank of England fund to help it lend to small businesses struggling amid the economic fallout from the coronavirus pandemic.

unquote - the rsst of it is on IG.

We'll just have to disagree then. But if this situation goes the way I currently fear, it will be very easy for ordinary folk on the continent to affect the movement of foodstuffs across to the vulnerable UK.

But this year still has over three months to run. They will be very interesting months for all of us.

For the info of everyone, the buffoon's bill is to be debated in Parliament next Monday.

Will the supermarkets be empty by the New Year?

The brown stuff is beginning to hit the fan, after a very strong statement from Brussels. £ under pressure, below $1.29 as I type. All this after Gove's meeting - the outcome of the Frost/Barnier meeting is still awaited.

Looks like it could get very ugly. Question: Will the supermarkets be empty by the New Year? I hope the buffoon sees the risk...

Where I hang my flag testing was scaled back significantly in the summer.

Why?

1. No-one dies from it. Just 86 in total.

2. More tests mean more cases and no-one wants that.

All the focus is on the economy ahead of GE next month. So far GDP has only fallen 5%.

Ten days ago, the SPX finally broke above 3,400, as we tracked. A couple of days ago, it hit a new ATH of 3,588, quite a move so quickly. Now, in a day or so, it has crashed down to a low so far today of 3,350. All of the strong rise above 3,400 has been given back and then some.
I did wonder, a couple of times, whether the move would turn out to be a bull trap and that idea is now very much in play again. Will the drop prove to be short-lived or is there something else going on?

The trading low today was 104.90. Nothing good about the chart.

MSE reporting that RBS has revived its C/A switch offer today, withdrawn early this year. Usually, NatWest follows suit after a short delay:

The RBS Reward account gives £100 if you open an account and request a switch by 19 November. There's a £2/mth fee, but you can earn up to £5 every month you log in to your account on mobile & pay out two direct debits of £2 or more.
