Takover seems less likely.

Let's hope the company continues to grow divis.

Interims 30th November.

I notice that Martin Negre sold 50,000 shares yesterday at 351p. Does this signify the top of this cycle? He is a heavyweight director and former chairman of NWG and I feel his sale must be a leading indicator. At the very least, it says to me that there will be no takeover this year!

As a well run water company, I shall be pleased to still be invested and claiming the dividends.

Kind regards
Linhur

...I agree, however the yield is not bad and there's always the chance of a takeover there also one day

.....well, I'm not too happy with my SSE holding, albeit I've had it for years and I'm in significant profit. However, of late SSE has been out of favour and very weak. Can't quite see why. But I've no intention of selling.

No, I tend to pick my sector, buy & hold. It's been a wintery few years but NOW the market seems to be recognising the value of utilities. What with NWG, SVT, UU, NG and VOD (which I see as a Utility) the last month or so has been immensely cheering.

Are you hedged in any way if these or the markets drop off a cliff again?

Frankly I hope there isn't a takeover; I've held these shares since 2003 and the dividend return is excellent. However, I think their peak was around 365p pre-credit crunch, and we're not far away from that now, so maybe something is going to happen. Do your own research of course.

AGM and Interim management Statement 29th July?

If there is any bid interest they should comment.

Meanwhile the price stays firm and at the level suggested as a low takeover figure six months ago.

Suggested takeover figure is now £4.1.

See link to Mail article in posting 1131.

Not wishful thinking according to the 'Daily Mail' which I looked at later today.

'whispers ...Ontario Teachers Pension Fund ........to sell its 26.8% stake ...to the Abu Dhabi Investment Authority............

ADIA will then launch a 410p a share cash offer for Northumbrian supported by 16% shareholder Invesco.

£3.75 would be better than the previous rumoured bid of only about £3.25.

Still not good news for long term income investors who would rather stay with water co. divis.
