01/3/2024 16:52 | There is another possibility.... The government is not going to sell the shares to SID but rather a foreign institution might buy the entire lot and then make a bid for the rest.... | netcurtains
01/3/2024 15:22 | True... And if interest rates stay relatively high during a recovery NWG should make even more next year... | netcurtains

01/3/2024 12:58 | If they sell off Natwest at maybe a 25% discount to punters I wonder if they would notice they could have bought a few Weeks ago at well under 200p? | isis

01/3/2024 08:34 | Most banking shares are up today....& NWG is up every day recently. Perhaps it is advance buying thinking that NWG will be worth more when the Govt own <30%. (Which is pretty close). 32.9% at last holding Govt RNS | smithie6

01/3/2024 08:12 | Its true shares often sold at a discount but often CURRENT shareholders get a good deal too.. So you're assuming sale negative for CURRENT shareholders but that is not always the case.. | netcurtains

29/2/2024 17:30 | Time to be careful, I suggest. If you look at the charts above, both LLOY and NWG sold off at their auctions and the technicals, IMO, are hinting at bearishness S/T. It may all be connected with next week's announcement and some folk finally realizing that a retail sale will involve a discount, which will need to be attractive to Sid. LLOY went up about 1p today and then lost it all by the close. We MAY be seeing early signs of some significant profit-taking to come in the S/T. | polar fox
29/2/2024 14:48 | The UK government will look to raise as much as £3bn-£4bn from selling a chunk of its shares in NatWest bank to the public in a measure expected to be announced by the chancellor in his budget next week. | smurfy2001
29/2/2024 12:52 | SMurfit has also been going up (FTSE100)... Its kind of like "STUFF" is heading back into retailers... Then there is Kingfisher - been going up every day for 5 days... | netcurtains
29/2/2024 12:05 | As soon as the 200 day was punched, has it been on a run. | smurfy2001
29/2/2024 10:18 | Yes..only a pound below fair value now | gcom2
29/2/2024 10:15 | Hitting 240.0p ....strong in recent days | smithie6
28/2/2024 15:42 | The FT has the story, but it's paywalled: Britain's chancellor, Jeremy Hunt, is struggling to escape a fiscal "headlock" imposed by his official forecasters as he tries to find space for tax cuts and lift pre-Budget gloom among Conservative MPs. unquote You can see why he's selling off the family silverware, like NatWest, and is desperate to go ahead with the retail sale. The share price hit 238.40 early today, before quickly dropping 4p, probably HMT judging from the wave pattern. My feeling is that the NatWest pricing is going to have to be very enticing to successfully attract millions of Sids, as Hunt has in mind. And the advertising campaign had better be good. | polar fox
28/2/2024 12:33 | Strictly speaking, I don't see it as a breakout - it needs to get past the pivot last September at just below 244. Also some technicals are overbought, such as my Stoch, which I use as an early warning - a bearish divergence is developing as it slowly begins to turn lower, while the share price continues to rise. Everything probably hangs on what is announced next week, of course and exactly how the retail sale will be structured and priced. | polar fox
28/2/2024 09:31 | added a few on this breakout. Been meaning to for a few days.. problem is I'm totally out of synch with the UK market. By the time you've opened I'm most of the way through a bottle of red and wondering where the missus his hidden her gin. So, tend to be a bit forgetful. Anyway managed to double up tonight. | kiwi2007 |
