Decent enough day. VLX and specs have both done well for me recently. CREI going xd only faller but will get that paid soon enough.

Spent the day in Valletta - pleasant if somewhat overcrowded. English is an official language over here and widely spoken by most. Maltese is impenetrable to my ears.

Decent day all around, +0.67% PMGR, AGL & NG.

Lovely sunshine, it was a toss up lunchtime of either beach or boat and the boat one on the basis it's coming out of the water tomorrow for a couple of weeks. Have to say it was really pleasant down there.

wllm, the whole article seemed a bit rigged to be honest, a three year old similar ICE car would have fallen pretty much the same. A colleague of mine has been in the habit of buying nearly new Jag F-Types and has managed similar deals each time. Also, what was all the cr4p about the battery pack needed replacing at a cost of £45K??? It will be guaranteed for at least 8 years and even then any potential failure would likely be limited to one or two cells, not the whole pack!

Beautiful down the marina at lunchtime, I was very tempted to go out but had no crew with me!

My lot aren't doing too badly today and it's nice to see PMGR can rise as well as fall!

Mild, but cloudy here, 16c. Practiced my serve this morning, I need to work on it but, I'll lose a few matches until it's sorted, I'm too competitive by nature hence I've never changed it, but, now retired I have the time to do it. I'm loving the reduction in our energy bills due to the solar panels, our smart meter is showing around £2 per day, that is a reduction from approximately £7 per day, furthermore, we are not yet getting paid for energy being sent back to the grid.

On EV's MrP, totally agree with your post yesterday, there are some amazing second hand buys out there. The chap in the link I posted yesterday showed his £120k 3 year old Porsche Taycan was only worth 35k-40k, if I was buying a car today I'd be very interested in that, beautiful design.

Interesting fall in shorter gilts suggests failing to cut now means faster cuts when they start. The MPC keep ignoring market signals. Back to 5 and 4. (That's rate cuts - not votes!)

So is the B of E happy to extend this strife? At what point do they admit they've done enough damage?

Mortgage arrears rise as homeowners struggle with rising borrowing costs

The number of UK mortgages falling into arrears has risen, latest figures show, as the Bank of England prepares to announce its latest decision on interest rates. There were 96,580 homeowner mortgages in arrears in the first three months of the year, according to UK Finance, an increase of 3pc on the previous quarter. The figure was 26pc higher than the same time last year, as increased borrowing costs take their toll on households.

Good morning. Already mowed the front to lift yesterday's residual hedge trimmings.

There is a little speculation of a surprise rate cut today due to the KPMG/REC recruitment report and possible inside info on April CPI that might be close to 2.0%, or even just, under as domestic energy bills reset for Q2.

The number of workers available to take up new roles rose sharply over the last month while businesses scaled back demand for staff, a dynamic that the Bank of England has stressed as necessary before it cuts interest rates.

I'm going to go for a 3-6-0 split.

After a slight rise in yields this morning, Gilts now seem to suggest maybe 5, 3 and 1 for cuts in the next 3 years. We've had months and months of the B of E refusing to deliver cuts that gilts have been asking for. If and when they do deliver one, gilts are likely to adjust slightly to suggest more early cuts, e.g. 7 and 2. Of course, the longer the B of E refuse to cut, the more likely it is to go the other way!

Hope the scan raises no issues, malcolm. My X-ray was clear. Ultrasound next. I 'm feeling better after losing a few lbs but still getting odd pains under the sternum. A small fatty hernia would fit the symptoms and might just need to lose a few more lbs off to make it go away. I always said I was a half a stone overweight but it reached a stone recently. Fingers crossed. (I blame the lousy weather stopping me getting out much. I like stodgy food in winter and it's felt like a long one!)

Not much to comment on. +0.1%. That's great after a very good few weeks and a bumper day yesterday. I imagine there will be a correction of sorts sometime soon but who knows?

Another day of brightness, a little hazy sunshine and some humidity. I spent about 90 minutes tidying up hedges at the front. I was a bit sticky in the end but worse was that I'm out of practice and feel to be seizing up now. I'll need a good night's sleep since the lawns already need cutting again. 23.2C after 9.1C was the warmest day yet. It sounds like it might get warmer and I've not adjusted to current temperatures yet after all that cold and damp.

wllm, the article doesn't really start well by him saying how terrible they are because of the depreciation. It has never been a great investment to buy an expensive car brand new, whatever fuel it uses! Looking on the bright side, I have just bought a one year old I-Pace for one of my directors for under half the price new so the depreciation on that has worked in my favour and he has ended up with a fantastic car for the price of a new "ordinary" car! I haven't gone any further with the article but I see he is parked near one of the most expensive public chargers so I am guessing he harps on about the cost of charging too? The trouble for some people is you actually have to think to get the best out of an EV which is difficult when you have guys like him almost deliberately trying to find fault.

Oh, and I have charged MrsP's car at work this afternoon in the sunshine for free as she wants to take her mum on a trip tomorrow.

Charles Hall, head of research at Peel Hunt, said: “The UK has become relatively unattractive as a listing venue. “The level of fund outflows has impacted both valuations and capital available for IPOs.”Mr Hall has previously warned that the FTSE small cap index could cease to exist by 2028 at the current pace of takeovers. There were 160 companies in the small cap index in 2018 but this is expected to fall to only 100 by the end of the year.
