07/7/2017 07:57 | Good to see a large foreign payment we have been waiting for has arrived in our bank this morning. Took the precaution of warning the bank so they didn't treat it as a possible scam! | mrphil
07/7/2017 07:54 | Morning All. 4/7 for me this week and I actually knew two of them! We saw 29.9°C yesterday but we did lose a bit of the sunshine in the afternoon with the solar pv dropping a couple of kwh on the day before. The low last night was 15.7°C but felt higher. Cornflowers are such a lovely shade of blue, not dissimilar to Love in the Mist of which we have an area that pops up every year in our middle bed which is our "cottage garden" bed with a complete mix of colours. Good to see the police investigation into DX. is over, maybe we'll see some positive action there now? Enjoy Wales Hyden. | mrphil
07/7/2017 07:47 | Good luck with the weather, Hyden. I could fancy that myself. Nothing but bad news streaming out of the US overnight but all small scale stuff and unspecific. The stockmarket saw falls across all sectors Lots of analysts and ratings agencies are turning pessimistic. It seems to be starting to sink in that the economy might get worse rather than bounce. The Atlanta Fed Q2 GDP forecast has fallen from 4.3% to 2.7% over a couple of months and will likely fall further, given the last couple of days' news. Central bankers aren't helping by continuing to tighten as optimism fades. Tesla shares are now down 20% from its recent high. | aleman
07/7/2017 07:46 | Good Morning. 4/7. Have a good time Hyden. Hazl - Malcol was correct - they are larkspur - these are my cornflowers :- | skinny
06/7/2017 22:04 | 30 degrees on the way home from work this evening and still quite sticky and uncomfortable even now. +0.22% for the folio, which is much better than when I looked mid-afternoon and considering that fallers out pace risers. ICP is the best value riser and POG the worst value faller. My faith in VED is beginning to be rewarded as it breaks through the downtrend and begins the long climb back towards the February YTD high. I have 5 open positions which, on average, are now comfortably in profit and with dividends on top. I'm off to Wales tomorrow, for a weekend cycling through the Elan Valley and down towards the Brecon Beacons. I have just about recovered from my exertion in the Lake District and remain hopeful of lots of off-road fun in cycle-friendly temperatures. :-) Have a good weekend all. | hyden
06/7/2017 18:49 | Skinny looks like a cornflower to me. They are a lovely blue! | hazl
06/7/2017 18:35 | I'm down -0.244% on the day today (FTSE100 -0.412%). Worst falls: CPG -1.87%, RB. -1.52% and AZN -1.49%. Best rises: LLOY +1.51%, S32 +1.39% and MKS +1.28%. The gentle fall continues. I must look at how I am doing over the last few years. It has been up to 26°C this afternoon when I last looked. We had about 3 spots of rain after breakfast, but none of the forecast heavy showers. Still a bit of cloud about, but nothing looking threatening. Curry at Wetherspoons for lunch. Otherwise I've been wtaching the Test. Jo Root had a reprieve on 149, when he was caught off a no-ball. Up in the 180s now at the close. Moeen is with him on 50-odd. Lets see how we do tomorrow. 06/7/2017 18:32 | Caught the edge of a storm for a few minutes. Not much rain but better than nothing. | aleman
06/7/2017 17:38 | -0.29% for the Folio. [FTSE250 -0.42%] Worst value fallers : ASY -1%, BGO -1.6%, GSK -1.1%, CNCT -2.75%, NG. -1%. Highest value riser : LLOY +1.5%. Temps between 27 & 29C, no sign of any relief tonight. | blueliner
06/7/2017 17:23 | A bit bigger than anything we get involved with. Sounds fun though! | mrphil
06/7/2017 17:16 | Electric scooter (not disabled motability scooter) as in you stand on it with one foot. They have a couple of small 4.5ah 12v lead acid batteries wired up in series. Lithium should give more grunt for longer with less weight. The best I have seen cheap so far are 4000mah at 3.7v for £5.99 for 2. I know someone with an electric bike that is good for 35 miles at up to 23mph. | freddie ferret
06/7/2017 17:09 | My SIPP finished down 0.12%. Very close here with the possibility of some rain @10pm. | skinny
06/7/2017 17:05 | freddie, our industry uses mainly nickel metal hydride although we are starting to see Lithium ion creep in to some high end emergency lighting units. What are you trying to run? | mrphil
06/7/2017 16:59 | Mixed. Weather also mixed, cooler and overcast a lot of the time. May just have heard a distant rumble of thunder. Anybody know of a cheap source of Lithium ion batteries? Do not need to be new, but working. Need to make up a fairly high capacity battery. | freddie ferret
06/7/2017 16:57 | A pleasant change to see both ending the day positive! SIPP +0.12% with top risers LLOY, BRCI & BDEV and the pot +0.23% thanks to LLOY, LGEN & RR. New series of Who Do You Think You Are with Charles Dance tonight. | mrphil
06/7/2017 15:32 | Perfect day to be out on the boat, we need this to carry on until at least Sunday night! Aleman, I think TSLA shares were so hyped up they could only go one way so it could only end in tears. Pity as I think the company is doing an excellent job and the products seem excellent. Looks like I did well to grab some euros this morning! | mrphil
06/7/2017 14:59 | We now have no rain forecast at all - should make sleeping tonight interesting! | skinny
06/7/2017 14:45 | The thunderstorms are over East Anglia and the North Sea. It only turned warm here when the sun came out after lunch. It's a bit sticky and making for grouchy kids, though. 26.9C and warming. Just starting to get the firt Q2 updates in the US and they're wonderful - if you wonder at missed revenue forecasts that were already poor. -16% -1.6% -9% Buckle beat consensus with -5.8%, though. | aleman
06/7/2017 14:24 | They are impressive figures from M-B, most markets seeing an increase. | mrphil
06/7/2017 14:20 | A couple of reasonable risers today but GSK has taken a bit more of a tumble putting the SIPP just into red territory again. Very hot here again, I'm guessing hotter than yesterday. We had lunch indoors as the granddaughter had been out in the garden all morning and was pretty tired so it was easier to keep her up at the proper table! | mrphil
06/7/2017 14:20 | Bumper Merc sales thanks to a Chinese boom. Chinese sales rose 34.5% to 292,679. USA rose 1.8% to 28,994. That's right, Chinese sales were more than TEN times US sales and 25.5% of the total. Not bad for an economy that is supposedly not growing fast enough. | aleman |
