-0.46% today. Outperforming Vs the FTSE is of little consolation on a down day. KAZ is the best value riser and PHNX the worst value faller.

-0.51% today. [FTSE250 -0.73%]

Worst value fallers : CLIG -2.5%, PHNX -1.6%, GVC -1.4%, IGR -1.1%.

Highest value riser : BGO +3.2%.

More than a few Folio stock charts could be overlaid on each other showing similiar falling trends.

Rain showers became more continuous as day progressed. Cool 16C.

I'm down -1.321% on the day today, rather more than the market (FTSE100 -0.546%)>

Worst falls: CLLN -33.48%, PSON -5.14% and MKS -4.64%.

Best rises: S32 +1.41%, RIO +0.79% and ULVR +0.43%.

Those reporting updates today have caught the CLLN disease. Not time to panic, I fancy. The miners have had a better day, and rumours about Kraft looking at ULVR. Predators can be a nuisance.

Had a hair cut this morning. A few spots of rain on and off, but more "organised" rain in the last couple of hours. It may have eased off again now.

Lots of red for me but somehow contained to -0.3%.

Drizzled all day. 14.2C high after 12.2C low. Scarborough has warmed up to 11C.

I have some Sainsbury's bacon in the fridge. That says 3.85% (cooked) and for me is a bit too salty like all bacon these days - so why so much? I note water precedes it in the ingredients so is over 4%. Now add back the 5% they are allowed undeclared so that is 9%+ added water. Maybe they could get away with less salt if they tried the revolutionary idea of adding less water, and saving on your cooking costs and CO2 in the process.

Pretty awful day, SIPP -0.57% LLOY, NG. & IKA/AV. and the pot -1.01% LLOY, LGEN & SGC

The little bit of cash I am holding in the SIPP is likely to be used pretty soon to grab a potential bargain!

Mighty glad I dumped my CLLN yesterday at 134p, further commiserations for those still holding.

Been sent out of the house tonight so will need to record Episode 1 of the new series starting on BBC1, In The Dark

You're dead right there Skinny!

Shame about Store Twenty One, but is there really enough business for all these fashion chains?

Going to be another poor day for the SIPP, won't be long before we enter negative territory for the year at this rate.

We have light rain now, expecting tennis to be rained off tonight - ours, not Wimbledon! Very impressed by Muller yesterday, a very well deserved win!

Been raining here all day. Much needed so no complaints - except for the temperature, currently 13.0C in the garden and only 10C at Scarborough.

Colder elsewhere, though. Not been watching the news but I'd be surprised if these have been mentioned. (Now remember the frost damage to corn in South Dakota two weeks ago.)

(There are temp records going back further than 110 years in Oz but they decided scientists then were unreliable because they recorded some temperatures warmer than modern records.)

Well we have had a tiny bit of rain this morning with much more promised for this afternoon and evening.

Good to see Bovis taking their responsibilities seriously

And I suggest coffee isn't good for you but it is not as bad as another beer or wine, if you already drink them moderately, which raise incidence of strokes and heart and liver disease. I bet water would give even better reductions in these diseases. No comments on coffee and thyroid disorders?

US small business survey index eases slightly. This index looks fairly positive overall (after a strange pike a few months ago) but always seems more pessimistic when I read through, e.g. June sales trend turned negative again after several positive months. Stocks was a positive, yet higher stocks can just be a reflection of weaker sales?

Stonking news from Bango. Breakeven on cashflow was touted as Q4. I suggested it might make Q3. It looks like they nearly got there in H1, which probably means Q1 was negative and Q2 positive.

Less stonking news elsewhere. Quite a few tiddlers disappointed today and it was M&S's turn amongst the bigger companies.

Anyone wanting a hedge against recession might want to take a look a BEG's results. They say Q1 insolvency appointments are up 8%, after years of falls since the financial crisis. They hint at a pick up in business but don't seem to want to quote figures for the thinner summer period in case they are not representative. (I think most would expect the economy to have worsened further since the end of March.) They say they will update on the year's prospects in September, when they have a better idea of the underlying trend. While waiting for the upturn, BEG shares yield 4.5% after today's slight markdown.

Morning All.

The market doesn't seem too impressed with the results from IKA this morning, possibly too much "jam tomorrow"?

No worries DF, the price action of CLLN reminds me of FGP a few years back, they also provided a tasty dividend despite high levels of debt, share price ended up falling from £3 or thereabouts to 70p on the back of a profits warning and Rights Issue, even today it is only around 120p and no dividend, but, I managed to get out of that one. I wont be surprised if CLLN follows a similar pattern as I reckon a Rights Issue is highly likely.
