"Why you should use automatic doors in your business

24 July, 2024

Automatic doors are an increasingly important part of modern life. People now expect to be greeted by automatic doors when they go shopping, visit the bank, go to work, or access public transport. They’re seen in hospitals and at medical facilities, in residential blocks and shopping centres.

The popularity of automatic door installations is due to a range of positive reasons. Safetell can help your business achieve greater security, improved access and higher energy efficiency, with bespoke automatic door installation.

If your business is not currently using automatic doors, then it might be time to consider the benefits.

Convenient Access

Automatic doors support greater accessibility at your premises, making entry and exit effortless for customers, employees and partners. The need to push or pull heavy doors is eliminated, with this added convenience improving the overall customer experience. Businesses with easier access encourage repeat visits.

Accessibility for All

Automatic doors are particularly useful for individuals with disabilities or mobility challenges, as they remove the need to manually open doors. This helps businesses comply with accessibility regulations, fostering an open and inclusive environment.

Reduce Your Energy Bills with Automatic Doors

Automatic doors are usually equipped with sensors that detect movement, allowing them to open only when necessary. Because they only open when required, they help to conserve energy use, minimising heat loss, particularly in buildings with high foot traffic. In the UK’s variable climate, automatic doors ensure that valuable heat energy isn’t lost.

Automatic Doors for Enhanced Security

Automatic doors can be equipped with a range of advanced features to enhance the security at your premises. Advanced locking mechanisms, access control systems, and other optional extras restrict entry to authorised personnel only. An automatic closing feature also ensures that doors remain closed after each use, reducing the risk of unauthorised entry.

Space Saving

If space is limited at your premises then an automatic door is an excellent choice. Because they don’t require clearance for swinging open, they maximise floor space and allow for more efficient use of interior areas.

Improved Appearance

How your business looks to potential customers and business partners is all-important. If you’ve invested in retail or office space, it’s vital to think about the first impression it makes on your customers. Automatic doors can be integrated seamlessly with the building’s design, contributing to the overall aesthetic appeal of your premises. They are available in a wide range of styles and finishes to complement the appearance of your property.

Reduced Maintenance

Automatic doors are designed and built to withstand heavy usage and operate reliably for extended periods. They can often have less maintenance requirements than manual doors, making them a more reliable and cost-effective option for your business.

Enhance Your Brand Image

Automatic doors can better enhance the image of your brand. Automatic doors are perceived as modern and customer focused. They show you care about customer convenience and greater accessibility, positively influencing perceptions of your brand and differentiating your business from competitors. Automatic doors provide your customers and partners with a positive welcome to your premises.

A Flexible, Convenient Solution for A Range of Businesses & Organisations

Automatic doors are increasingly installed across a wide range of different business premises and organisations.

A Convenient Solution for Retail Establishments

Many people encounter automatic doors whenever they go shopping. That’s because automatic doors are an excellent choice in terms of accessibility and security for supermarkets, department stores and shopping centres. They provide easy access for customers carrying shopping bags or pushing trolleys. They also make it easier for people with pushchairs or in wheelchairs or other mobility challenges to access retail premises.

Safety and Accessibility for Hospitals and Healthcare Facilities

Automatic doors are commonly used in hospitals, clinics, and medical offices to facilitate the smooth movement of patients, visitors and medical equipment. They ensure that individuals with disabilities or temporary mobility challenges can easily access the building. They also reduce touch points helping to reduce infection risk. This is particularly important in settings where people may have compromised immunity.

Making Office Buildings More Efficient

Automatic doors enhance efficiency and productivity in office buildings. They provide employees and visitors with convenient access while maintaining security. They help to regulate foot traffic and enhance the overall flow of people in and out of the building.

A Warm Welcome to Hotels & Hospitality Venues

Hotels and hospitality venues use stylish and efficient automatic doors to enhance the appearance and aid accessibility at their premises. They can be found at entrances, lobbies, and common areas to create a space saving and modern aesthetic. Automatic doors also enhance security and can be combined with key card access systems to allow guests to access the property around the clock while maintaining security.

Keeping People Moving at Airports, Train Stations & Bus Terminals

Automatic doors are essential in airports, train stations, and bus terminals to facilitate the movement of passengers with luggage. They ensure efficient boarding and disembarking, ensuring that foot traffic can move freely through the station.

Security & Accessibility in Educational Establishments

Educational establishments install automatic doors to ensure the smooth movement of large numbers of the staff and students around the site. Automatic doors enhance accessibility and safety on campus while minimising disruption to daily activities. Safetell have installed 40 automatic door operators within a university in North London.

A Practical Solution Across the Commercial Sector

Automatic doors are a practical solution in various commercial settings, including banks, restaurants, theatres, and entertainment venues. They contribute to a better customer experience, supporting smooth operations in busy environments.

Barrier Free Access to Public Buildings

Government buildings, libraries, police stations, museums, and other public institutions use automatic doors to support greater accessibility. They provide convenient, secure and welcoming access to a wide range of different buildings, helping people access the services they require.

Security & Convenience in Residential Buildings

Automatic doors are increasingly installed in residential buildings to aid security and increase convenience. Often fitted with a key card entry system, they help residents and guests feel secure in the building, while ensuring that access is straightforward. Stylish automatic doors can also enhance the overall appearance of the building.

A Bespoke Automatic Door Installation & Maintenance Service from Safetell

If your business would like to enjoy the benefits of automatic doors, then Safetell can help. Installations are carried out by our experienced in-house team that specialises in challenging site conditions and high-risk locations. We guarantee efficient, high-quality results in any situation.

We can also ensure that your automatic doors continue working as efficiently as possible for longer with our scheduled maintenance and repairs service. Our prestigious service minimises risk, and avoids costly, unplanned emergency expenditure. We have a ‘repair not replace’ mentality, only replacing parts as a last resort, when fixing them is no longer a realistic option.

Because we’re system agnostic, we’re always able to give the best advice on equipment regardless of the make and model. This means we are not trying to sell unnecessary products when they can be repaired and maintained for many years, saving you money.

Safetell provide a complete automatic door service for businesses and other organisations, helping them enjoy the benefits of automatic doors while reducing costs.

So at NWT's current share price of 92.5p, it has risen by 125.6% during my period of NWT posting.

In comparison:-

The FTSE AIM All-Share Index (AXX), since the end of 21.1.22, has fallen by 31.89% (from 1,132.08 to 771.06):-

(A fall which from 41p would equate to 27.925p.)

FTSE AIM All Share Index (AXX):-

This actually represents NWT outperformance of c. 231%.

What are you trying to say Arthur?

That Techinvest is committing the serious criminal offence of fraud by faking its performance records?!

Apart from anything else, the Techinvest tipsheets are in the public domain, with its portfolio record updated at each issue.

Also, I've previously read many copies, edited by Conor McCarthy, and I've seen for myself how he used the sort of rigorous analysis outlined in his checklist to make very effective stock selection decisions.

And I've also used it myself to great effect.

"Money talks, & b.s. walks", as they say.

Well Arthur,

I think that the Techinvest Trader Portfolios performances speak for themselves, don't they.

As Techinvest itself says, the proof of the pudding is in the eating:-

"We think that’s a more comprehensive track record than many newsletters would provide, but we fully recognise that the proof of the pudding is in the eating, ..."

That Conor McCarthy checklist is a distillation of his accumulated wisdom over decades, when he was outperforming even Warren Buffett at his best.

" ... they're almost all utter hogwash."

Only to the extent that they have left me 'awash with dosh', Arthur ...

In fact, my first ever post on NWT, which was on the old NWT thread two and a half years ago, referenced that Conor McCarthy article ... when the NWT share price was under half of what it is at the moment:-

Conor McCarthy, founding editor of the Techinvest newsletter in 1984, is a bit of a hero of mine.

The Techinvest performance record helps to explain why:-

Techinvest Trader Portfolio 1
Starting capital (1.3.85): £20,000
Termination value (31.3.93): £462,874
Gain (8 years and 1 month): 2214%

Techinvest Trader Portfolio 2
Starting capital (1.3.93): £50,000
Termination value (30.4.96): £276,691
Gain (40 months): 453.3%

Techinvest Trader Portfolio 3
Starting capital (1.4.96): £50,000
Termination value (27.3.00): £570,402
Gain (4 years): 1040.8%

Techinvest Trader Portfolio 4
Starting capital (1.1.00): £100,000
Termination value (1.12.20): £1,089,659
Gain (20 years): 989.7%

And his ten point, one page article "Technology stocks - attractions and dangers", that I referenced yesterday, is a template for making money from tech stocks.

In fact, it's well worth framing a copy and hanging it above your desk!

And it strongly supports the investment case here.

Hedgehog

I don't begrudge you your enthusiasm for this stock but I think it's misplaced.

I'm willing to bet that no matter how long you hold this stock you never get a cash dividend.

Also, I can't reconcile the apparent repayment of debt in the cash flow statement with the constant increase in net debt in the balance sheet.

Still, I suppose it keeps Marie-Claire in eclairs.

"The full Buck Moon rises this weekend. Find out when and how to make the most of the spectacle

By Iain Todd

Published: July 18, 2024 at 11:20 am

The Buck Moon is the name given to the full Moon that occurs in July, and you'll be able to see it this weekend, the full Buck Moon rising on Sunday on 21st July at 22:05 BST.

A bright full Moon is a beautiful sight, and one of the most striking naked-eye phenomena visible in the night sky. ..."

Why it's called a Buck Moon

Each full Moon of the year has its own informal nickname, leading to wonderful-sounding monikers like the Pink Moon, the Worm Moon and the Strawberry Moon.

Often full Moon nicknames are historic, and have come about because they denote a significant change or phenomenon in nature seen during that month.

The Buck Moon is the full Moon in July, and is thought to originate from Native American culture.

Specifically, 'Buck Moon' refers to the fact that July is the time of year when male deer - known as 'bucks' - begin to grow their antlers, and is the beginning of game-hunting season.

As with all other full Moon names, the term 'Buck Moon' doesn't mean the Moon will look any different from any other full Moon of the year."

So a full Moon tonight, the seventh of the year.

And this 'Buck Moon' should look stunningly beautiful.

A bit like the 'megabucks' that Newmark is making stateside in fact ...

We should all make a killing from all this MOONey flooding into NWT's coffers from America.

And today seems the perfect day to ilLUmiNAte that.

Football stadia will also be major targets of the imminent Martyn's Law (Protect Duty legislation).

From the spring of last year:-

"How Football Stadiums Can Prepare For Martyn’s Law

Martyn’s Law, which seeks to improve the security of public venues and spaces, will begin its ascension into UK law in May. The majority of football stadiums can expect to fall into the ‘enhanced’ tier of the regulation and must adopt measures proportional to the size of their security operation. ...

... it will be guided by the National Counter Terrorism Security Office's guidance on Publicly Accessible Locations, which provides a comprehensive strategy for incident prevention and response, including the use of CCTV, access control, and hostile vehicle identification. The guidance also emphasises the importance of instilling a security culture in all personnel, which will be made much simpler with the right supporting technologies in place.

For many football stadium managers, the cost of these changes will be a major concern. Upgrading security systems or increasing staff with broader training can add to the financial burden, especially given the ongoing inflation throughout the UK. Moreover, given that terrorism attack methods are constantly evolving, stadium security strategies must possess the flexibility needed to adapt accordingly.

By embracing these changes early, stadiums can spread the cost of any required upgrades over several years to help manage costs. Such a change also presents a golden opportunity for assessing existing security measures, considering if existing technologies and systems can adapt alongside the UK’s ever‑evolving anti‑terror legislation.

Adopting a technology-driven approach to security, with a focus on visualising all relevant data through a single interface, is one of the most important steps to take. This will simplify not only security personnel training but also incident response times and procedures. Technology can also help to reinforce standard operating procedures. Digitizing these procedures and developing guided workflows will make them easier to follow in the event of a crisis. This will also make it easier to comply with the law's requirement to aid police investigations.

The need to update our security technologies also extends to hardware and digital storage. It's 2023, it is high time we reconsider the process of gathering video evidence. While manual methods such as sharing footage on USB sticks or DVDs were once sufficient, the cloud now provides much more secure and efficient options for storing and accessing digital evidence. ..."

From the Nerdist website:-

"AUTOMATIC SLIDING DOORS DIDN’T EXIST BEFORE STAR TREK

by Melissa T. Miller

Dec 14 2022 • 2:45 PM

Star Trek‘s technological legacy is vast. Kids watching back in the ’60s grew up and invented the cool things they saw in the show. Tablets, video calls, and flip phones are all real-life gadgets inspired by Star Trek tech. Food replicators and medical tricorders are not far off. But did you know that automatic sliding doors belong on that list as well?

Those of us who were not alive yet when the original series came out may have no idea that this technology blew people away at the time. Famed astrophysicist Neil deGrasse Tyson has even said it was the least realistic part of the show to him. When he watched as a kid, space travel and warp drive were believable enough. However, doors that knew when you wanted them to open seemed truly too good to be true. ..."

"Revolving door (politics)"

So the 'revolving door of politics' in Britain should now slow down.

And demand for Newmark's revolving doors etc. should speed up, with the swift enactment of Martyn's Law (Protect Duty legislation):-

"Revolving Doors
Safetell’s Revolving Doors offer a high-security solution to control entry to secure internal areas."

"Revolving doors are the best entry solution for buildings with a lot of foot traffic. Used in office buildings, shopping centres and public places, they are a necessity for controlling the flow of people. At some point they may have even been a source of entertainment, taking a spin around inside a couple of times as a child."
