So Protect Duty generated entrance control business for NWT should also boost NWT-Safetell autodoors servicing business."

This is especially so considering that automatic doors safety standards & annual maintenance are boosted by their own regulatory growth drivers, as they are a legal requirement:-

"Global Automatic Door Market Trending Upwards, EN 16005 Demands Annual Maintenance

"Global Automatic Door Market Trending Upwards, EN 16005 Demands Annual Maintenance

The global automatic door market is predicted to grow in all segments over the next five years, according to multiple reports. The widely-adopted EN 16005 directive also means building owners must ensure their doors meet stringent safety standards. ...

The directive was ordered to improve safety standards and states that people and goods are not allowed to be hit by moving doors. To ensure this is achieved, EN 16005 says that power-operated doors must be installed with safety sensors and door operators that are in constant communication.

Maintenance has to be carried out by approved technicians annually on all doors covered by EN 16005. Failure to do so leaves owners potentially liable should an incident occur because of a faulty door. The scope of EN 16005 is described as “[dealing] with all significant hazards, hazardous situations and events relevant to power-operated doorsets when they are used as intended and where conditions of misuse are reasonably foreseeable by the manufacturer”.

While the EN 16005 regulations were agreed upon for use in Europe, it has also been adopted by nations in the Middle East and Asia.

What is the size of the automatic door market?

The global automatic door market reached a value of $18.44 billion in 2021. IMARC Group expects the market to reach $30.09 billion by 2027, exhibiting at a CAGR of 8.27% during 2022-2027.

The IMARC report cited “significant growth in the construction industry” as one of the critical drivers of growth in the automatic door market. It also noted that automatic doors are increasingly finding favour as they provide secure and convenient door access to differently-abled individuals.

The impact of COVID-19 is also at play. The pandemic drove a rise in demand for automatic doors as they provide hands-free access to public places, such as shops, hospitals, restaurants, office buildings, and apartments, and cut the risk of viral transmission. ...

" ... Here's the part of the new article that lists the big benefits of a tailored-customised approach, including additional sections on employee training, and response planning:-

"The significance of tailored security

... Employee training: Tailored security solutions often incorporate comprehensive employee training and awareness programmes. These initiatives equip your workforce with the skills and knowledge to identify and respond to security threats and foster a culture of vigilance and responsibility.

Compliance: Different industries and client risk profiles have specific safety regulations and standards. A tailored security solution ensures compliance with these requirements, helping businesses avoid legal and financial repercussions.

Response planning: Customised security solutions are often designed with security response plans, tailored to the unique risk profile of your business and outline specific, step-by-step actions to be taken in the event of security breaches. With a detailed response strategy, companies can minimise the potential damage from security incidents and streamline their recovery processes, ensuring business continuity. ..."

"WHAT ARE THE BENEFITS OF INSTALLING AUTOMATIC DOORS?

... Added security

Automatic doors can help manage access to your building and be used as part of your overall security strategy. They can be controlled remotely with access only being granted to particular traffic. They can be deactivated entirely or programmed to open and close during certain hours or during particular conditions.

Automatic doors can easily be integrated with other security systems, such as security cameras and alarm system. In an emergency they can be set to remain open to allow speedy evacuation of the building. ...

"WHY AUTOMATIC SLIDING DOORS ARE GOOD FOR COMMERCIAL PROPERTIES?

" ... Security

Automatic sliding doors contain tough security glass that is robust and shatterproof. When the building is not in use and the doors are in a closed and locked position, they are extremely difficult to force. Because they slide open, they are incredibly difficult to attempt to force. Modern automatic sliding doors contain advanced security features that improve the overall security of commercial premises.

It’s also possible to combine automatic sliding doors with entry systems that ensure they only open when personnel with the correct access permission approaches. Automatic sliding doors can be configured to enable generalised access during working hours, or more limited access to employees and permitted visitors. ..."

And interestingly, NWT's 23.1.23 final results also talk of an overlap between Access Control and HCM (human capital management):-

23/01/2023 07:00 UK Regulatory (RNS & others) Newmark Security PLC Final Results LSE:NWT Newmark Security Plc

" ... Internationally, the emerging overlap in HCM and Access Control creates a new cloud-based opportunity for combined solutions, and together these represent a very large market for our future growth. ...

By offering secure cloud control of people's access, time keeping and identity data at work, we are shifting the strategic value paradigm, raising the customer focus from its former dependency on hardware 'clocks' and 'access terminals', to one that empowers the intelligent enterprise. Through our solutions, customers will gain the capability to enable and connect a broad range of internet-enabled devices securely in the cloud with unified software control - creating a trusted ecosystem in the workplace. ..."

So potentially, Protect Duty generated business for NWT could also perhaps encompass NWT-GT HCM business.

Going back to NWT's spread, I would add that that the spread tends to narrow when there is more trading volume, and you can also often get inside the spread - sometimes well inside it.

For example, the second trade today (for 59.4p/share) is actually a sell trade above the mid price. - So the 'real' spread at that point was actually 59.4p - 63p: equating to a 'real' mid price of 61.2p.

3. Hardware-enabled SaaS can often be a better business than 'pure play' SaaS; this article explains why:-

"Hardware Enabled SaaS : Next generation of SaaS companies
Kumar Sparsh · Follow

... This is why we believe that Hardware enabled SaaS (HeSaaS), a model where hardware is an integral part of the SaaS offering, can be a logical evolution of the pure play SaaS model for many industries and use cases. HeSaaS manages to circumvent or minimize many challenges faced by SaaS startups. The hardware element acts as an anchor, helping in reducing customer churn by reducing the possibility of customers migrating away to a marginally cheaper or marginally better SaaS. HeSaaS startups doing outright hardware sales are further able to magnify the Lock In Effect. Talent to work on specialized hardware design is also tougher to find, which along with defensible IPs makes it tougher to directly copy the product and greatly reduces commodification risk. HeSaaS model also opens up new or untapped niche markets that couldn’t have been effectively served by a SaaS only model. Hence there has been a lot of interest in this space in recent years. ..."

Like the term 'mobile phone', the term 'timeclock' can be a bit of a misnomer, as GT themselves point out; but it's a term that people seem happy to run with:-

"GT CLOCKS
PEOPLE AND DATA MANAGEMENT

About Us

GT Clocks has been serving the world’s leading Human Capital Management (HCM) solutions providers for almost 50 years. Continuous innovation has been at the heart of a strategy that has kept the organization at the forefront of technological advancement throughout that time.

From our humble beginnings, we now have operational hubs in both the US and Europe and clients across the globe. Our products and services have changed over time, but our philosophy remains the same; to be the supplier of choice for HCM partners seeking reliable and technologically advanced edge devices, data-entry terminals, or ‘timeclocks’ as many of our customers still call them. We don’t mind; we like being the ‘clock guys’.

We pride ourselves on the talented individuals that make GT Clocks different. From Operations through to Sales and Development we work collaboratively to deliver much more than just secure, smart environments."

These developments mark a major strategic milestone for Grosvenor, unlocking enormous market potential across a broader range of connected devices, as well driving another substantial increase in recurring revenues, as we continue to build steady, predictable income streams across a fast-growing base of customers and partners.

As a consequence, HCM annualised recurring revenues (ARR) grew by 133% to reach an ARR of GBP2.1 million in April 2023. These revenues represented 12% of Grosvenor's 2023 revenues (2022: 4%). Customers are the ultimate arbiter of whether something is worth buying or not, and here they are very clearly saying "YES".

This NWT revenue stream had barely started even just a couple of years or so ago (max. c. £128K. in NWT's year ending 30.4.21), so to grow to £2.1M. so quickly from a standing start is fantastic, and bodes very well, especially as this revenue stream is so high margin.

Well done 3ootuk, and welcome aboard.

I totally agree that NWT is a share that could and should perform well for years to come, so it can be viewed as a 'buy-&-hold' investment rather than a 'trade', which means that you don't have to be so concerned about the bid-offer spread as with short/shorter term trades.
If you're selling for a gain of hundreds of per cent in years to come, that would blow away any big spread quoted now.

Investment opportunities like this don't grow on trees, so to let a big spread put you off can be a big mistake.

You can automate it in to payroll/attendance even from remote locations. Gets rid of errors from manual entry.
It can be used for access control to limit access or to show out of bounds, or to ensure workers are where they are meant to be. It can be a lot more real time than fiddling other systems.
It can also easily do multiple times eg to charge for travel then time on site for mobile workers.
A big step up from manual clock cards.

Twas I that bought the last two trades yesterday. Not much stock around so you pay what they ask on fill or kill, which might put off other PI. Plus the thin trading means they're harder to sell.
You have to take a long term view that 2p extra per share now won't matter in the long run.

I downloaded the datasheet for GTConnect.

For me it is very very badly written.
It doesn't say what it does/provides imo. (But maybe it is intentional, to keep competitors in the dark !!)

I could only determine that, it uses the 'cloud', it uses encryption, data backed up.
Personally I'm completely unimpressed !

Since surely if you use cloud services from Amazon/Apple/Microsoft you get those things in the most basic monthly plan.

What NWT provides or adds that you would you would not get if you signed up to use Amazon/Msoft cloud....after reading the NWT promo I remain completely in the dark !!

For any newcomers to NWT, it's well worth reading up on Grosvenor Technology's groundbreaking software as a service (SAAS) product: GTConnect.

Growing exponentially, very high margin, fulfilling a compelling need, and with strong barriers to entry, this could help to catapult NWT's profits into the multi million pound level in just the medium term ... and much more than that further out.

GT's partners are impressive indeed, and are a hugely effective and low risk way for GT to strongly grow its business without undue risk and costs.

And with a focus on the huge and robust American market, this helps to provide insulation from the challenges facing many British markets at present.
