US stocks are lower as investors fear that the US-China trade spat could spiral into a technology cold war between the two countries, with no signs of a resolution in sight. The Dow Jones Industrial Average fell 374 points to 25,403. The S&P 500 was lower by 37 points at 2,819. The Nasdaq Composite dropped 123 points, or 1.16%, to 7,629

Not just trade agreements/tariffs clashing here...macro is the complete shaper of the environment in which these activities are conducted...But I do hope it is isolated as you suggest..!

Because macro economic trade agreements don't filter down to micro economic projects such as this which fall outside of that remit given they are not projects on US or Chinese territory, but Mozambique soil.'I'm sorry president Nyusi but due to rising tensions in long-standing trade negotiations we can't build your power station despite all the time and money spent by everyone to date. Soz'Doesn't work like that.

Can't see how you can say a Chinese state owned company doing business with a red white and blue US company cannot be impacted by rising tensions (not limited to trade tariffs) between the two countries...

GE and CMEC have partnered on many other projects on that continent and they now have this one within Mozambique sovereignty. Trade disputes between the US and China aren't a factor.

That's why I mention the moves around South China seas...US wading in there too...not quite China you could argue!

Sorry but I disagree, you can't make a comparison between a Chinese tech company on US soil and a joint enterprise in Mozambique between US and Chinese companies. It it was on Chinese soil then perhaps.

I did say unlikely...but China may look at some form or embargo on US companies...and GE (even with Africa on the end) is one that you can't hide.Hopefully not likely, but it is a concern.Price holding at 7p indicates I might be over baking it relative to the market...But more Chinese tech companies are in the cross-hairs and of they go after South China seas...gloves may come off...All just passing the time to stay calm waiting for the JDA to land!

Is it likely that they are holding off on signing the deal until the new shares are released on the 23rd? Just wondering.

KAV

Some nice words in the morning note from the highly respected mining analyst John Meyer at share price Angel ref: LSE:KAV / www.kavangoresources.com /Tw*tt*r = #KAV

Kavango Resources (KAV LN) 3.6p, Mkt Cap £5.7m – Laws of probability to be rewritten after Kavango strikes mineralisation in first and second drill holes under Karoo sand in Botswana

Kavango, which is exploring for a large-scale bushveld igneous-type mineralisation reports results from a second drill hole in Botswana.

The team which are highly experienced in the geology of the region have used geophysical data and remote sensing to establish drilling locations.

Remarkably, the first drill hole hit mineralisation under the sandy Karoo sediments
Even more remarkably the second drill hole is reported to have also hit mineralisation including copper in chalcopyrite with a 1.5% XRF gun reading. X-Ray Frequency gun readings are not considered to be reliable due to their potential for miss-reporting but we do place some value on the readings when in the honorable hands of Messrs. Foster and Moles.

The first drill hole hit a 200m zone of intensely altered rock with indicative cobalt values of up to 0.9%, averaging 0.2% cobalt and >70m of elevated copper, zinc, lead and nickel values.

Conclusion: Kavango is worth watching and we await results from drill core assays. While we never doubted the skill of the geological team we are surprised and impressed to see two sets of mineralised results in so short a time frame. Well done team!
