06/5/2024 13:22 | £2billion in the scheme of things isn't that much! But the attitude of it is! It's about 4 well off Arabs and a few Camels worth, okay throw in the Mercs and Jeeps too! The Swiss investment bank, which has assets under management of about $5.2 trillion, has radically upgraded its view of UK stocks as it predicts that energy and commodities companies will benefit from a revival in the global manufacturing sector. UBS has shifted its rating from “least” to “most” preferred even as its smaller rival, Coutts, announced plans to pull more than £2 billion of client money out of the London stock market. | isis
06/5/2024 12:31 | This sounds very promising :- . | skinny
06/5/2024 12:11 | Thanks, Skinny. So if the sale were this week, they could be priced at, say, 295p, with one more added down the road. 10 x 295 = 2950/11 = 268ps. Is that supposed to have Sid and his family battering down the doors to buy 5,000? FTSE is up over 50 on IG atm, with the DOW looking like it will open up a bit more than 100. | polar fox
06/5/2024 09:21 | I don't know what's worse. The Sids not realising they could have bought them 50% cheaper 4 months (with a Dividend) ago or the Government pretending they're getting a Bargain! Then you've got Coutts saying don't buy British - It's a complete farce, they should leave it seriously! | isis
06/5/2024 08:42 | Times: NatWest ‘bonus’ share plan for investors Treasury also considering minimum and maximum investment levels as it looks to sell some of its remaining shares in the bank in scheme that could launch this month. Retail investors could receive a “bonus” share in NatWest if they hold on to the stock for at least a year, in plans being drawn up by ministers for a populist Tell Sid-style privatisation of some of the government’s remaining shares in the bank. It plans a mass-market sale of NatWest shares, which Jeremy Hunt, the... Unquote If Skinny sees this, he may be able to give us the whole article. ADD: Sky has a more detailed piece. 03/5/2024 18:24 | That ~5% directed buyback has to be around the corner. | smurfy2001
03/5/2024 17:26 | And yet the do believe their own shares to be undervalued along with many others as they are buying their own shares in big buy back programs! This crazy logic doesn't add up does it? More wokery nonsense from this Bank - sack the board and start again, stop these silly games they are playing! | isis

01/5/2024 11:05 | Polar Fox yes your call around 225 to go sub 175 was a good one. I was surprised to see that. Maybe only now we are seeing a post covid rally, those big drops last Oct/Nov claimed to be on nim falls but I reckon it was the 25 year high in bond yields that encouraged the short sellers here...and where do see the right shoulder for 500p? I see 03 Aug 2010 the share price was 560.54p. but wasn't there a rebasing a couple of years back, not sure how that affects potential targets. | gcom2
30/4/2024 07:08 | Three major lenders to raise mortgage rates Three major lenders have announced they will raise rates on new fixed deal mortgages on Tuesday. Nationwide, Santander and NatWest will push up the cost of new deals as uncertainty remains over lending costs. They follow various rivals who lifted their rates last week. Expectations of the extent and speed of interest rate cuts by the Bank of England have been scaled back, prompting the changes. | johnwise

29/4/2024 08:19 | gcom, Last August, you asked me for my views on the share price I wasn't particularly positive and included a comment that there might be some downside to come - that came true with a vengeance in October, with the Q3 collapse to 168. But Friday saw a high of 308.70, so I took a close look at some charts over the weekend. I have some good news, very much taking into account the price action since the virtual double-bottom at 203 in Jan. and Feb., as well as much else. I now have a L/T target of +/- 500p. When I say L/T, I have in mind 3-5 years at least, could well be a bit more. I can now see why both BlackRock and Mass. Financial have accumulated around 5% each, clearly for the L/T. I'm going to keep half an eye open for a buying opportunity as this year unfolds - the technical position is S/T overbought, IMO, so I'm not about to add 'just like that'. I'll leave it at that, not wishing to go into all the TA whys and wherefores at this stage. | polar fox

26/4/2024 21:56 | DMail: It comes as rumours swirl Westminster that Mr Sunak could trigger a general election on Monday, to be held in early June, though he has consistently said he will not hold one until the second half of 2024. unquote This explains why folk have been betting heavily on June and July today. | polar fox |
