01/3/2024 08:36 | Poss current holders may get 1st dibs if over subscribed? i dunno | gcom2
01/3/2024 08:34 | Most banking shares are up today....& NWG is up every day recently. Perhaps it is advance buying thinking that NWG will be worth more when the Govt own <30%. (Which is pretty close). 32.9% at last holding Govt RNS | smithie6

01/3/2024 08:12 | Its true shares often sold at a discount but often CURRENT shareholders get a good deal too.. So you're assuming sale negative for CURRENT shareholders but that is not always the case.. | netcurtains
01/3/2024 08:08 | Some trades at 241.8, 241.9 The mkt hasn't read your profit taking post ! | smithie6
29/2/2024 17:30 | Time to be careful, I suggest. If you look at the charts above, both LLOY and NWG sold off at their auctions and the technicals, IMO, are hinting at bearishness S/T. It may all be connected with next week's announcement and some folk finally realizing that a retail sale will involve a discount, which will need to be attractive to Sid. LLOY went up about 1p today and then lost it all by the close. We MAY be seeing early signs of some significant profit-taking to come in the S/T. | polar fox
29/2/2024 14:48 | The UK government will look to raise as much as £3bn-£4bn from selling a chunk of its shares in NatWest bank to the public in a measure expected to be announced by the chancellor in his budget next week. | smurfy2001
29/2/2024 12:52 | SMurfit has also been going up (FTSE100)... Its kind of like "STUFF" is heading back into retailers... Then there is Kingfisher - been going up every day for 5 days... | netcurtains
29/2/2024 12:05 | As soon as the 200 day was punched, has it been on a run. | smurfy2001
29/2/2024 10:18 | Yes..only a pound below fair value now | gcom2
29/2/2024 10:15 | Hitting 240.0p ....strong in recent days | smithie6
28/2/2024 15:42 | The FT has the story, but it's paywalled: Britain's chancellor, Jeremy Hunt, is struggling to escape a fiscal "headlock" imposed by his official forecasters as he tries to find space for tax cuts and lift pre-Budget gloom among Conservative MPs. unquote You can see why he's selling off the family silverware, like NatWest, and is desperate to go ahead with the retail sale. The share price hit 238.40 early today, before quickly dropping 4p, probably HMT judging from the wave pattern. My feeling is that the NatWest pricing is going to have to be very enticing to successfully attract millions of Sids, as Hunt has in mind. And the advertising campaign had better be good. | polar fox
28/2/2024 12:33 | Strictly speaking, I don't see it as a breakout - it needs to get past the pivot last September at just below 244. Also some technicals are overbought, such as my Stoch, which I use as an early warning - a bearish divergence is developing as it slowly begins to turn lower, while the share price continues to rise. Everything probably hangs on what is announced next week, of course and exactly how the retail sale will be structured and priced. | polar fox
28/2/2024 09:31 | added a few on this breakout. Been meaning to for a few days.. problem is I'm totally out of synch with the UK market. By the time you've opened I'm most of the way through a bottle of red and wondering where the missus his hidden her gin. So, tend to be a bit forgetful. Anyway managed to double up tonight. | kiwi2007
28/2/2024 07:45 | Bloomberg: NatWest Stock Sale Prep Moves Ahead as Government Taps Brokers UK has asked brokers to sign non-disclosure agreements Share offer would further reduce state’s holding in the bank The UK has opened talks with brokers including Hargreaves Lansdown Plc and AJ Bell Plc about helping to sell the state’s shares in NatWest Group Plc to retail investors. The government has asked firms to sign non-disclosure agreements and the talks are in their early stages, according to people familiar with the matter, who are not authorized to speak publicly. The retail sale, which Chancellor of the Exchequer Jeremy Hunt announced last year, is expected to be confirmed ......all that's available | polar fox
27/2/2024 12:31 | It could be buying back 7K shares yesterday 🤣 pitiful buy back. | smurfy2001
27/2/2024 12:03 | maybe the simple fact of a return to private ownership after 16 years will give share price a boost....who knows | gcom2

26/2/2024 16:53 | If I was the Govt I would try to wait a bit, if possible, to let the share price first rise a bit in response to the record results. | smithie6
26/2/2024 16:46 | If sell 10% of the co. = ~£2bn If 5m ppl take part, equally, that is just £400/person. ----- If HMG sell 20% of the co. shares that is ~£4bn. If 5m ppl take part, equally, that is £800/person. ----- Let us say the placing takes place at 220p. Small discount to the mkt price of 230p. ----- A) If one already holds say £5k & the share price rises 10% due to HMG moving from being the controlling shareholder to being a non-controlling shareholder,. 230p to 252p. The gain is £500. A return of 10%. B) While the gain on buying £800 of shares in the placing is ((252-220)/220p)X £800 =£116. A return of 14.5%. ----- Conclusion These 2 calculations with assumptions show that owning £5k of shares gives the higher total return. While just taking part in the placing gives the higher % return....but !!! producing a small amount of money that for many PIs is not worth the effort of filling in the forms ! (If one has to fill in paper forms rather than just click on a box at one's broker's website). | smithie6
26/2/2024 16:15 | They might give current holders cheap shares..... 😃 | netcurtains
26/2/2024 16:04 | HMT should wait until the Divi has gone Ex before any offer... | crazi
26/2/2024 11:45 | Another TR-1, this time after just a week. I think we've all seen the impact their selling is having as HMT takes advantage of rises in the share price from time to time. I don't really understand why folk are buying NWG - up to 232.60 this morning - when a discounted Retail Offer may well be announced next week. It takes all sorts.... Quote The percentage of voting rights held by HMT in NatWest Group plc (NWG), as shown on this form (32.88%), has been calculated following the disposal by HMT of 59,768,086 ordinary shares in NWG since its last TR-1 notification on 19 February 2024. unquote | polar fox
26/2/2024 08:49 | NWG appears to be having a good run... Worth noting... | netcurtains |
