25/5/2024 20:33 | I don't think the sale of their US operation would raise the 3 trillion they apparently need. I think they will just keep using their share holders like a piggy bank until we own nothing and drink bugs smoothies for breakfast. 2020 article:https://www. | natasonline
25/5/2024 20:14 | Possibly, a stupid point to make but some great discussion on this board... Why not effectively split the company into a US operation... sell it off and then use that money to fund the UK expansion? Some years ago, went to a presentation that highlighted that we needed a UK subsea NG around the UK to connect up all offshore wind farms etc. Bottom line: need loads of copper!! | freedomexpress747
25/5/2024 19:37 | Sorry, that last Link went behind a pay wall, heres a 2010 BBC article:https://www. | natasonline
25/5/2024 19:21 | Here is an article from 2010 as to why they needed the 3.2 billion rights issue. Sound familiar? De-carbonisation anyone?https://www.i | natasonline
25/5/2024 19:10 | I was doing a bit of digging and found a MSE thread from 2010 when National Grid presumably did their last rights issue. Well I thought is was interesting, thought I'd share. https://forums.money | natasonline
25/5/2024 18:58 | Having had time to digest all the facts i will be taking up my rights and overall a lot more positive. | bargainsniper
25/5/2024 18:27 | not even tin plated now | bountyhunter
25/5/2024 17:31 | I played NG game when they were about to special divi and reducing the share count. Could not make any significant profit. The moment I sold it went up by 200p. SODS law | action
25/5/2024 17:29 | gold plated thats a laugh...cromium.. | lippy4
25/5/2024 17:16 | Yes, all three. | viscount1
25/5/2024 17:16 | @Laurence. True, we all know the risk of holding single equities. This one just hurts because it's not a volatile Tech stock, it's a boring 'gold plated' dividend payer that has screwed us.My plan is to take up the Rights, sit and hold and sell out if the share price ever gets back to 10.00NG. can F*&k off IMO. I've lost all trust in their management. I'd rather it have got nationalised than this. | natasonline
25/5/2024 17:02 | Damage limitation IMO, and how to best recover from it, nothing we can do about the placing or the discounted price, add rights, add more and hold or sell your rights, fold the position and move on.. | laurence llewelyn binliner
25/5/2024 16:46 | Thanks viscount. Do you know if any of those shares are normally available to buy within an ISA? Action, yes that's some small consolation, at least I made a profit albeit a significantly reduced one (and saved myself from the full 16% drop over the two days). My trust and confidence in NG management is now blown however. | bountyhunter
25/5/2024 16:35 | Re: ISAs You can take up the rights issue outside of an ISA even for an NG position in an ISA. There is no legal issue doing so; it all depends on whether your broker can do the paperwork or not. | viscount1
25/5/2024 16:29 | "I must take a look at Nexans, any other suggestions along the same lines?" Basically Prysmian, NKT and Nexans in Europe, or several Japanese companies that you will probably not be able to buy. The high-tech cable industry is a solid oligopoly and probably worth a look. | viscount1
25/5/2024 16:05 | Share price moved up in last month or two | action
25/5/2024 15:49 | A 238p/share drop in two days in exchange for 200p (NGPN) * 7/24 = 58p/share if you were to sell the NGPNs now. A 180p/share real loss in just two days, I make that a 180/1128 *100 = 16% loss over the two days in real terms based on the current share price and NGPN price, assuming you sell the NGPN rights at today's price. All with the icing on the cake of the rebased dividend. I took the hit on Thursday selling out at an average price of ~£10.25, glad I did although still totally p*ssed off with this fiasco. | bountyhunter
25/5/2024 15:33 | However the Balfour Beatty long term chart doesn't look great, back to Nexans, I've not found any others. Just checked the Nexans chart, the share price has risen by nearly 20% in the last month! Coincidence? | bountyhunter
25/5/2024 15:29 | The numbers are... My shares have dropped 37k in 2 days and I have rights worth about 6 k. The loss should be protests for everyone, I.e. 6 times more loss than the value of your rights.FFS, German energy transition has been a mega disaster, and so we simply follow and do more or less the same.So I have given 30grand plus a lowered divi to increase consumer bills further, faster and to put even more families into fuel poverty.Pettigrew you are a disgrace. I know you are only doing what gov diktats order you to do, but don't you have some morals? You know bills will rise massively due to this and you know you are putting many families into fuel poverty. I would have told the gov to eff off and resigned. Is it worth doing for 7m pa? | pierre oreilly
25/5/2024 15:28 | #UtyINV, it has caught me out too, all mine are inside an ISA, I will have to exit some of another position near term to take up my rights, but at 645 pence it does not make sense to let them lapse, then I will add post XD to get a better average holding price and keep the lot for a decade..A PITA, as another month of incoming dividends would cover the rights costs.. | laurence llewelyn binliner
25/5/2024 15:20 | I must take a look at Nexans, any other suggestions along the same lines? Labour's response to Tory plans made me laugh: "Only the Conservatives have a clear plan for a secure future where we reach net zero without punishing families with extra costs.” Responding to Ms Coutinho’s announcement, a Labour spokesman said: “This is not a plan – this is a call for evidence, a set of options, two consultations, a copy and paste job from an old letter, and lots of wishful thinking. | bountyhunter
25/5/2024 15:08 | Laurence, As you probably know already, some sell part of their holding to raise cash in ISA’s ( if max’d out in annual allowance already) to take some of the Rights. At the end of the day, we have to be patient and see if NG delivers on its expectation that the Company will have a market cap of £100 billion. Not too ambitious when compared to car Companies like Tesla or Dot Coms that are worth over a £Trillion. | utyinv
25/5/2024 15:02 | They should have waited (and scaled down their grandiose plans) as interest rates are anticipated to come down and debt would then be cheaper. Pillaging shareholders for such a large sum will put off investors going forwards who have lost trust in the company, which may see the share price wallowing at a depressed level for some time to come, imho. | bountyhunter
25/5/2024 14:27 | Best option as I see it is to double down taking including taking up your rights at 645 pence to average down and double your holding post XD going forward to be part of the bigger company.. No right or wrong answer, but selling your rights is some compensation for the dilution.. | laurence llewelyn binliner |
