31/5/2024 15:18 | As far as I can see Labour is going to establish a private equity fund using tax payers money investing in private businesses who are putting up green solutions to energy. Looks a very expensive sketchy plan. | berny3
31/5/2024 13:11 | Again and FWIW :- | skinny
31/5/2024 13:00 | Interesting phil, yes what exactly are the plans for "Great British Energy"! What we have heard so far seems to be just vague mumbo jumbo! | bountyhunter
31/5/2024 12:47 | Skinny posted the new rating earlier. Details.. Jefferies trimmed its price target on National Grid on Friday as it reiterated its ‘buy’ rating on the energy infrastructure firm. The broker said the London-listed firm’s stock had underperformed since it announced a near £7bn rights issue at last week’s full-year results. But it continued: "We see the funding underpinning the new £60bn capex plan. Our updated full-year 2025 earnings per share are 14% lower, but we see 7% 2025-2029 compound annual growth rate, with balance sheet headroom for additional growth capex. "Regulatory updates due in the next six-to-12 months would improve visibility." Adding that the blue chip appeared "cheap", Jefferies concluded: "We reiterate our ‘buy’ rating with a new price target of 1,150p, implying 40% total shareholder return." 31/5/2024 12:43 | Labour has launched its Great British Energy policy - do we need it? As Labour launches Great British Energy Sky's Ian King asks why is it being left to regulator Ofgem, rather than politicians, to spell out the household costs of the energy transition? | philanderer
31/5/2024 11:13 | One of the issues that caused the renewable Battery Storage trusts like Gresham, Gore Street and HEIT to crash was lack of connection of their assets to the grid. This increased investment by NG may be a good sign for those trusts Also, Labour announcing today that they will increase spending on renewables may be good for the whole energy sector, even if it's a burden on the economy as a whole. | apollocreed1
31/5/2024 11:04 | Davius - yes you are right it appears that there are in fact people queuing up to connect to the grid so the rights issue infrastructure investment should get a good return quickly. This seems to be bouncing back up. | kibes
31/5/2024 10:56 | yes they are as nil paid and the share is trading ex rights | prokartace
31/5/2024 10:06 | As shorts have to be declared it wouldn't happen anyway | prokartace
31/5/2024 10:05 | Cmon people The right issue shares are not in existence yet | phillis
31/5/2024 10:03 | Glad I bought yesterday. Annoyingly I tried to buy the rights but my provider couldn't do it. Would have a tidy profit if I had | prokartace
31/5/2024 09:54 | #Anhar, similar views, I added some more this morning pre XD, rights to come 06.06.2024 then the balance to hit my target holding post XD to get a nice average cost/share overall.. Hard to tell if this is the green shoots of an oversold recovery, or a 1 day wonder, but all/nearly all the RI bad news should be baked in now IMO and todays share price quite likely linked to 'Starmer vows green energy push' headlines, so assuming he will be in No10 in July, we will be well positioned with the grid capability to connect them all up.. | laurence llewelyn binliner
31/5/2024 09:39 | If I didn't already have a full allocation of NG. in my income port, I'd definitely be a buyer up to 906p in present circs. As I've said imo this figure is the 5% cut-off yield at or below which the shares represent good income value. Just my view as a long term hold divi investor. Income players dithering about going in, whether to the xr shares or subscribing to the rights, (where the yield is 7% at 645p for those who received npr) who may be influenced by bulletin board bull from chartists or brokers etc. who think they know the price direction are wasting their time. Such opinion is of no use for income seekers because nobody really knows anything about future prices, which mostly are random. There's no shortage on ADVFN though of price predictors, about as much use as tea leaves. Decide on the yield that appeals to you and go in, assuming you like the other fundamentals. Then hold forever. Something good may then happen but no guarantees of course. I'm coming at this only as an income investor, not any kind of trader seeking gains who will have other methods of judging the share. I'm guessing that NG. is regarded essentially as an income stock rather than a trader's price play. | anhar
31/5/2024 09:19 | Hmm, hard to tell if the climb back has started as a swallow does not make a summer. The dust will settle a little after the xd date and the immediate drop afterwards. But not until this whole process is over would I attempt to work out the winners and losers here. However given time the share price should recover to the value before this debacle started. ie share price = value pre rights + money raised by the rights / shares issued. Which should be greater value than before. | 1carus
31/5/2024 09:19 | FWIW :- Jefferies cuts National Grid price target to 1,150 (1,330) pence - 'buy' | skinny
31/5/2024 07:08 | looks like the climb back up has started already | lyceeuk
31/5/2024 07:05 | well done for all those who bought on the dip yesterday. | berny3
31/5/2024 06:36 | Pseudo, agreed they are certainly real trades. Any ideas why such trades should take place? It's shifting some shares from someone to someone else via someone else still. Obviously bookeeping, shifting risk, satisfying expected not to be taken rights of something else unusual. I'd bet it's from one holding to another in the same institution for some reason.Dex, I hope you're not worried that the market price is now 645!. It's not, and these transaction prices are totally desperate from the market price. It'll open near last night's close, not 645. Also, your recent buys weren't at the bottom, but don't worry, as Uty said, in a year's time I think you'll see they were astute buys. But expect volatility In the next few weeks. You (and me) are now locked into a generous and safe income stream with our recent buys. | pierre oreilly
31/5/2024 06:30 | nats, I was referring to post 9384 re buying shares at 645p at this stage in relation to yesterday's late trades as highlighted, i.e. comments were in that context | bountyhunter

30/5/2024 23:07 | dexdringle, The prospectus states that this is indeed possible, as detailed in post 9379. The London Stock Exchange reported the trades, as is legally required and with the status off-book MIC: XOFF ie. an exchange between counterparties, not using the order book and not on a stock exchange. | pseudosphere
30/5/2024 21:24 | I'm not saying they don't appear on the trades. I'm saying they didn't happen regardless of what is showing on the trades. No one has traded these at £6.45. There is clearly sone kind of error. | dexdringle
30/5/2024 21:15 | Not sure what you mean about exercising your Rights, I got my letter in the post yesterday from HSBC and went online today and instructed them I wanted to take up ALL my Rights. I had till the 5th to make my decision. I think they show up in my ISA by the 12th. I've no I idea when the funds will leave my cash account to pay for them. | natasonline
30/5/2024 20:51 | I wouldn't have thought you could exercise rights at this stage? Maybe I'm wrong on that as I don't know the details re NGPN. 7:08pm seems an odd time, maybe recorded late. | bountyhunter |
