BP. SHEL GSKBATSIMBAll pay quarterly dividends, as do nearly all Investment TrustsMuch prefer quarterly dividends for Income

I agree with a dividend every quarter as it's nice seeing that income more often as well as the possible stability benefits.

That said I hold US monthly paying dividend companies and they can be very volatile.

Good luck all 👍🏻

Quarterly not attractive to Hedge Fund gamblers.

I sell off half my holding prior to ex dividend and either buy back when the share price drops or shift the cash to the next decent dividend payer.

UtyINV, I agree about the quarterly dividends - its blatantly obvious (for me) when I look at my dividend income breakdown by month.

Skinny,

The drop is always a good bit more than the divi. Happens every year. Unfortunately, there isn’t much reason for a lot of institutions to hold or buy until end of Nov /start of Dec now, when they go ex divi for the interim paid in Jan ‘24. That’s why I prefer a qrt dividend policy, which creates greater stability in share price throughout the year.

I am guessing the interim in Jan to be 18.39p

Typical carpetbagger move, i suspect the Yanks are looking to take this over once the price is right!

Just been doing a bit of digging only to find that the Yanks ( Hedge Fund Shysters) increased the number of ‘Shorts’ ( ADR shares borrowed from institutions for a price in order to short the stock), by a staggering 68%.

Someone in the US has had some insider info and increased the ‘Short’ on the Company.

Dividends aren't much good if capital isn't safe from serious erosion!

I am going to have a guess at what the 2023/24 average CPIH is going to be (April ‘23 through to March ‘24).

To start, we already have April 2023 at 7.8% but I guess the year average will come down to 5.5%.

If my guess is correct and based on 2022/23 full year divi of 55.44p then 23/24 could well be 58.49p.

IMO and that of many experts, believe UK shares are very cheap.

Crazy market logic. UU results today reveal a 40+% fall in profits but a 5.6% increase in divi and the shares rise.

NG show good profit an increase in divi by 8.77% and the shares drop like a stone.🤷

I sold half so basically down to my ring fenced number, I'll buy back when we get to ex divi day, I anticipate ca 10 quid.

Didn't expect a 3 percent drop with the hike in dividend today

Market looks mildly unimpressed with these results but I am not sure why.

Looks pretty solid on revenue and profits. Debt levels down but flattered with disposals. Could be the fear of more debt given capex forecasts.

Very good NGV results, especially interconnectors as they cash in on UK/EU power price volatility. I hope they pump more money into those sorts of businesses.

Recommended final dividend of 37.60p to bring full year dividend to 55.44p, up 8.77% and in line with policy. That will do nicely.. :o)
