Well said and balanced view Uty.

Thank goodness Pettigrew has had the foresight to invest in the USA and unregulated businesses.

For those holding NG which is what this bb is for, take heart that a lot of income comes from $ generated income.

£1: $1.16

€1=1$ pretty dire in Europe.

Macron has bankrupt the French economy bailing out edf which is testament that Government owned utilities cost tax payers big time.

Boris is partly to blame for our situation, listening to his unrealistic woke partner going too green too fast without reliable infrastructure in place beforehand.

Nuclear, hydrogen, wind, hydro, pumped storage, battery storage, liquid Gas storage, all areas that needed investment.

Regulator not always working in the Country’s best interest. But one thing for sure, if you think its bad now, it could have been much much worse if the industry wasn’t privatised in 1990/91 ie prices would be 5 times higher than it it now. I know the waste, inefficiency and lack of decision making that took place in a State industry.

Don’t forget true benefits of privatisation haven’t been realised because Ofgem have restricted investments, to keep prices down ( the mechanism used to bring in revenue from investment). US regulator provides a better investment playing field. Investors ( which we all are ( investors, pensioners etc etc)
need a return on capital.

If things don’t change I can see a 1970’s exodus where, investment and brains leave these shores for more level playing fields.

It seems that the traders ramping energy prices practically seeing the shortage and ramp the price. Maybe the practical way forward is for US and UK to work with Ukraine and Russia for peace - then no reason for shortage. If Nordstream 2 had been opened (Germany blocked) then as Nord 1 was shut down, for whatever reason, number 2 would pump. The word stupid EU and UK comes to mind, but I guess us serfs don't count and £7000 bill not seem as a problem by the leaders.

Lots of investment going on in the USA and new connections in the UK. Lots of new business opportunities, with NG taking over WPD then the ev charging points will be another opportunity.

I haven’t ever experienced ( or can’t remember an occasion) where post final dividend the share price doesn’t fall. I have spoken to the chap that wanted quarter dividends as well as JP ( CEO) expressing support for quarter divis and the argument was that the institutions who hold most shares want to leave it as it is. Of course they do because they sell in Aug and buy back in Nov, making money on the way.

One would be forgiven to think the biggest falls occur post ex- divi in June, but many investors purchase shares by reinvesting when the divi is paid in Aug. The scrip divi facility that NG offer is not open to all investors, especially those in Tax shelter platforms.

Everything is falling due to the dire cost of living situation, exacerbated by the war, Putin a great advocate for Communist doctrine. Communism is a utopia that is as in the name an impossible ideology. Every communist state is a dictatorship where the people are never free.

I may be proved wrong, but once the winter is upon us the anticipated fear of armageddon might not turn out to be the case. It will be rough but the fear is always worse than the reality.

The election is due Sept 2024 lots of time for the economy to recover IMO

UK not looking very good ATM is it. £ falling. Go ahead and vote Conservative (or rather UKIP). You have ruined this country, you have ruined the futures of our youth, and if you continue keeping these bunch of spivs in power you'll put the last nail in the coffin for sure. Your generation will be quickly forgotten. Wasted births most of you.

Uty,

Well done in not responding to the vile and vitriol behaviour emanating from some.

Pleasant, and respected people will always have their voices listened to but if there was ever a case to vote Conservative, even though many on this bb are 'Centrists', then this is the case as we try to distance ourselves from disgusting behaviour from Medieval or Minerve2 or whatever he calls himself today.

I am sure Kier Starmer is loving the Ambassador who is professing all the virtues of his Party.
