There is a move to use CPI which is the biggest political con from all parties.

A fair and decent return on investments should be RPI ( real inflation) +, minimum.

Prewar,

The proposal for RIO II is expecting a ROE of 3%.

That’s the way it’s going or appears to be going.

Not convinced with JP. One week away from results and the share price is tanking. Has there been another leak to the ‘City’ friends of Chairman Peter Gershon?

Was Andrew Bonfield’s offer from Caterpillar too good to turn down despite the fact that Caterpillar are going through some difficult times regarding claims of tax evasion.

Was Bonfields plan to restore shareholder value and protect shareholder capital by investing big in the US reined in to comply with Ofgems demands on National Grid to run the Company as a Charity and to be content with a return on capital of around 3% whilst inflation in the U.K. is 4% and current returns in the US is 9%?

In a couple of months the AGM may just prove a difficult time for Pettigrew and Gershon where remuneration rewards along with bonuses will be seriously questioned. Bonuses are there to reward for exceptional performance, I cannot see a share price falling 30% as exceptional performance. If the share price rose 30% from its highs, then yes, that is great performance but as it stands there isn’t justification to pay either of them the basic salary. Failure is failure!

Uty, not sure para 3 is right, don't think Ofgem expecting to run UK side of NG as a charity. Are you saying the return is less than RPI? Doesn't sound right that?

NG rose quite nicely in the US last night, typical Mayfair hedgies spoiling the party. They obviously believe they know something more that the general investment community. If they do, who has given them this confidential info?

Anyone caught insider dealing should be incarcerated for 20 years and have all their assets confiscated. If the deterrent was there, there wouldn’t be any insider dealing.

Looking like the trend has changed here and if there is one thing I have learnt when investing the trend is your friend and often goes on much longer than you think.

Just look at the chart above, with a few blips was in an uptrend for about 6 years.

There also seems to be a move towards defensives recently.

This is a long term hold for me.

Ng tipped as a buy in this weeks IC. Proposed sale will mean money reinvested outside the Uk and shielded from Uk regulation and nationalisation.

Caterpillar said it would offer an annual base salary of $800,000 when Bonfield takes the job on Sept. 1

Guess that could be a factor.

Uty / Bounty,

I agree!

The News report indicates Bonfield is leaving NG to spend more time with Family in the US. If NG were serious about increasing the size of business in the US and even having a seperate listing in the US then why would the CFO leave?

The question begs as to whether John Pettigrew and Sir Peter Gershon are really concerned about maintaining shareholder value? Bonfield has the largest current holding of any Director in NG and the messages by him leaving do not bode well.

Are JP and PG capitulating to the threat of the Max Bros and to the heavily regulated regime that Ofgem are imposing on the Utility business's?

always a little worrying when the CFO steps down at short notice to require an interim, maybe the CEO will follow?

25% sale Will be positive going forward and if share price dip below 800p will be buying opportunity on 12 months view when sale is materialized.
