Nice to see the spark of life return and another decent rise.

A nice perk these awards - PI's have nothing to show for it though, other than dilution.

This takes so few buys to rocket, as can be seen by the few early buys. Up and away and it could hit the top movers list today.

This brand is way undervalued, hence MA's buying. Soon see Frasers stores opening again, and that will give this a shot in the arm.

Well on the road to recovery and the share can jump past a fiver in little more than a blink with so little in free float.

From the Guaridan 18th December 2020 "Mulberry shares tumble after Mike Ashley declines to make offer"

Not a very in depth article from the Guardian, but worth posting.

With the Ongs at 56% of the shares and Ashley at 37% that leaves a free float of only 7% of the shares.

In light of the results it is clear that MUL is well undervalued, as it is likely that there will be a huge recovery next year.

Mike got himself another bargain.

It is better to have the Ong`s running MUL as I guess Mike will soon see a huge return on this investment, as sales return and exceed previous levels over the next two years. Besides, the sales growth MUL will get from the promotion that Frasers will put everything into - there will be string international growth, and Mike might have an eye on other markets as well.

Mike Ashley's Frasers Group increases stake in Mulberry

The Guardian article says "Under the panel’s rules Frasers has until 17 December to announce a firm intention to make an offer for the company."

The question the Guardian article doesn't address is with a 37% stake in Mulberry can Ashley persuade Mulberry to sell in Frasers. From memory I thought Mulberry moved from selling in Frasers to selling in John Lewis.

What sort of price would Ashley offer for Mulberry? How badly in need of cash is the Ong's Hotel and property empire?

For what it's worth I think Ashley would only offer a low price the Ong's would not accept. However I'm frequently wrong.

Not often that my premonition actually works out, but yes it's Cashley. Not a big fan, although Dabizas was my favourite defender ;-)

I wonder what the Ongs think about all this. In answer to the question at the top of the page I would probably say Mike Ashley. Maybe LVMH might be interested on putting in an offer - a quintessential British brand to rival Burberry.

Well, well..

Happy with where we are now. I have no idea what is brewing but maybe Cashley has something to push ahead to offer... Possibly when he's sold NCFC... Pure conjecture and I've been wrong many times before

It dropped off and went into auction at the end of play today.

Something could be brewing I guess.

Hotels outside of the Far East will be haemorrhaging although I don’t know what percentage they have outside Asia.

I’ll keep a watch. I’ve a small holding too

I can't see a reason why the Ongs would sell Mul to Mike Ashley. My understanding is the main listed vehicle controlled by the Ongs is Hotel Properties Limited (H15.SI) quoted in Singapore. As with all hotel businesses worldwide it's not doing too well, but it doesn't look terminal. Recovery from covid 19 in Asia has been much faster than Europe. It would really need a team of forensic accounts to work out how the Ongs are doing globally, but if there was trouble surely some news could be picked up. The Ongs may have enough money to to consider Mul something for Mellisa Ong to play with. It would be great if someone native to Singapore could chip in with a view on the Ongs business situation.

It's hard to see how Mul's main shareholder the Ongs and PIs interests could coincide here. The Ongs may not care what the share price is or how little profit is made.

I have a small underwater holding here, can't decide whether to topup or get out.

I doubt that Mike would come up with an offer that would be accepted. He is more likely to make a huge profit on this as the stores pick up sales for the company and throw in the good company website, they should have a great Christmas.

Looks like Mike Cashley is just sub 30% as of yesterday, so who knows... could be in for a t/o to add to his upmarketing strategy following HOF, Flannels, etc

Today shows how little it takes to send the share price northwards.

jbfnfn, There was a rumour many years ago that they had Channel Island connections.

I have also recently been told that a Singapore resident has purchased a huge amount of new buy to let flats in the Islands, true or not, there clearly is a boom over there in the property market.

It might be worth doing some research, if you want to know more, as property sales are often registered through companies to hide the true identity of the buyers.

The Islands still keep secret registers though, so it maybe had to find who the beneficial owners are anyway. Some MP`s have been pushing for more openness from these Tax Haven`s.

The Paradis Papers started to uncover a lot of what goes on over there but I guess vested interests and corruption put a stop to that.

Mulberry is controlled by the Ong family (56% of shares?). Christina and Beng Seng Ong, are Singapore based billionaires. They control what happens with Mulberry.

Does anyone reading the board know of any good sources of information on the state of the Ong's other business interests?

I can see if the Ong's other business interests are under pressure something could happen with Mulberry.

Maybe they could become the acceptable face of Mike Ashley's operations. I don't think they are going to miss Johnny Coca - maybe they should appoint a home-grown creative director if one good enough can be found.

Having experienced a dramatic rise and fall over the past decade, Mulberry faces an uncertain future that could include cost cuts and lower demand for its products.

However, Investor's Champion comments that its brand value and growth opportunities are not fully reflected in its current valuation. They are also impressed with its approach to sustainability.

The end of Tax Free shopping in the UK would I expect cause a big hit to Mulberry.

The share might dip further very soon I guess.
