11/4/2007 20:38 | Looks like l've found the answer to my question in The Times :- Real action at last perhaps ? | mikepompeyfan
11/4/2007 17:52 | Does anyone have any thoughts on this part of today's statements ? "Mountford refused to be drawn on whether the arrival of two new non-executive directors would bring an end to the speculation, but added the appointments by 28.5 pct shareholder Unity Investments would allow the group to "focus on growing the business much more rapidly than in the past" and would bring a "wealth of experience in growing and acquiring businesses". The two new directors are yet to be named, but the company said the agreement reconfirmed Unity's position as a "long-term investor supporting the company's development". Mountford added: "It is their best interests, as our biggest shareholder, for the business to grow, become more profitable and to have an opportunity to acquire other businesses." | mikepompeyfan
07/4/2007 08:28 | I'm still here. What are they going to say Friday then ? a) As stated in the trading update the 3 specific problems we had last year are over and sales are back on track. b) What we said were just excuses and current trading conditions are still difficult. c) We have agreed a takeover deal with Baugur. | mikepompeyfan
05/4/2007 08:03 | Anyone still here? | badtime
30/1/2007 18:05 | Financial year ends tomorrow. Perhaps that means the bid action could be starting soon (hopefully). There could be some nosey buying as a result. | mikepompeyfan
30/1/2007 16:35 | Quite a few buys into the close today. That 85p bid rumour doing the rounds again? | bletherer
10/1/2007 20:47 | Very interesting. Moss never give a trading update until early February usually. The bid must be close :-) | mikepompeyfan
05/1/2007 15:09 | This is around where I thought the bid rumours would take it to. MOSB don't seem to want to comment and there is plenty of resistance at these levels so unless we get a clearer indication that the Baugur bid is a done deal I expect it to go sideways until results at the end of the month. | bletherer
27/12/2006 11:55 | hopefully I'll at least get my money back. dear oh dear, a bit of a rollercoaster this has been ;) | confucius1
27/12/2006 11:00 | Rising nicely; do not think 80-85p will be too much to ask. | azalea
27/12/2006 08:11 | I'm in first thing this morning along with other P.I. as the share price takes off after strong pre Christmas press comment of a bid in the offing. | azalea
26/12/2006 08:17 | Thanks for that bletherer. I'm getting bored with Moss now and l'd be happy to be taken out by a bid. We just need an optimistic trading statement at the end of Jan to get as high a price as possible. It seems Moss are taking more action to turn things around again. I was surprised to find out recently a local Moss store down here in Southsea had closed. It had been here for donkeys' years but never seemed to have many people in it. Most probably loss-making. | mikepompeyfan
24/12/2006 14:44 | The Telegraph are really going for it today. MOSB also tipped in their "Equity View" column in case their readers didn't get the message from the other article. ----------------- Moss Bros Baugur smartens up for Moss Bros Shares in Moss Bros (66p) are at a two-and-a-half-year low after the menswear retailer said in October that it was having "a difficult year". It slashed sales growth forecasts and said that its 118-store chain was having a particularly hard time. However we think that the company could be at the receiving end of a bid approach early next year and believe that the shares are worth buying. Baugur, the Icelandic investor owner of House of Fraser and Oasis, has a 29 per cent stake in the company and ambitions in the clothing arena. If Baugur is not interested, then directors of Dawnay Day, the property and investment company, might well be. Dawnay Day directors Guy Naggar and Peter Klimt are already in the process of acquiring rival Austin Reed and could form a mini-menswear empire. David Moss, a member of the founding family and a former company executive, is also reportedly interested in bidding. We would be surprised if one did not swoop. In July we advised readers to sell shares in the company. It is time to get back in. Buy. | bletherer
21/12/2006 11:32 | It will get taken out at 85p+ (previously 100p). Moss family interest low probability stuff and best ignored. | confucius1
16/12/2006 19:26 | I see the Guardian's reporting a rumour that the Moss family may also be considering a bid for the company, to add to the perennial Baugur rumour, in an effort to explain the recent small share price recovery. On the other hand it may just be that it was due a bounce after the heavy selling in recent weeks. | bletherer
13/12/2006 09:19 | Went in their local shop yesterday and it seemed very quiet. Mind, so did Austin Reed, but maybe the lack of till noise is filtering through to the share price and, of course, no news on any takeover to support it. Any other views ? | ptgint
13/12/2006 08:59 | WTF????? -3p. | meenan
11/12/2006 16:32 | down side maybe 60p, now buy at 66p, but if up, maybe to 80p. So I think buy..? any comm, please... | may45
30/11/2006 12:45 | looks like it's off again :-( | bletherer
27/11/2006 14:10 | On the way down again. Anyone hear anything more about the possible takeover recently? Don't all rush at once to reply. Hopefully I'll expect some sort of response by next month! | meenan
07/11/2006 09:52 | lol mike. seriously though, the watershed in my investing career was when I learnt to be brave/humble enough to admit that what I thought to be previously correct was, in the light of fresh evidence, no longer valid. | confucius1
06/11/2006 20:58 | confucius - this board has had 200 posts in 2 1/2 years, so I wouldn't take it personally. I quite like the peace and quiet myself. Better than the likes of ULT and YOO which might have 200 an hour, most of them complete rubbish. | bletherer
06/11/2006 17:26 | I'm waiting for you to go short because then l'll know the price will more than likely go up :-) | mikepompeyfan
06/11/2006 17:13 | where is everyone...is it something I said?! | confucius1 |
