11/5/2006 19:30 | AGM is 26th May. Will probably make or break this year's performance depending on the tone of the current trading statement. ps Here's confirmation of an earlier posting l made from The Times today | mikepompeyfan
11/5/2006 11:21 | Hmm...interesting. The decline from the top this time round is looking more corrective in nature so far than the Feb/March fall. If we can just take out the declining tops we could have a serious crack at an upside breakout. C'mon, MOSB! | bletherer
28/4/2006 14:17 | Two weeks on and that 90p level is indeed proving pesky. With the weaker summer period for stocks rapidly approaching this may well be stuck in a range for a while yet - but at least now it looks like it will be going sideways at worst rather than down. | bletherer
15/4/2006 23:36 | Thanks for that reference, mike - good news indeed. The management certainly has plenty of interesting ideas and they seem to be weathering the storm better than a lot of other retailers. I'm hoping the share price will be able to take out the resistance at 91 in the next week or two and resume the longer-term uptrend. Otherwise we could be stuck in this 75-90p trading range for quite a while. | bletherer
14/4/2006 11:44 | Mildly positive sounds a fair comment. I like Moss because they obviously have a lot of good ideas and options on expanding the business further. Profits are still increasing every year. There's the large cash balance and ever present take over possibility. What could happen to profits in a couple of years time when the government will be encouraging consumer spending so they can try to win the next election ? l did actually go in a Moss store yesterday and bought a very nice 'England' shirt ready for the World Cup. Bargain at £13.99. Never thought l'd see Moss selling that type of thing ! Ascot's back too this year - | mikepompeyfan
13/4/2006 07:07 | Results and the trading update/forward outlook look pretty decent - only negative is a mention of likely rising costs towards the end of the statement. But sales modestly up and margins held in the first part of the new trading year sounds like they are continuing the recent mildly positive trend. | bletherer
10/4/2006 17:59 | lol. Have faith (and hope) ! | mikepompeyfan
10/4/2006 14:52 | Stone the crows! Finally a nice bounce, after 2 months of slow but virtually uninterrupted falls. Looks like that 74p level will hold after all, at least until Thursday... | bletherer
08/4/2006 13:53 | mike - Thanks for the correction, I meant the February trading update. Sharecast agrees with your assessment, commenting: "Final results from suit hire firm Moss Bros have already been well flagged up after the group said full year like for like sales rose 2.5% and profits were in line with expectations of £6.2m. Of more importance will be an update on recent trading and whether the group is continuing to find conditions on the high street tough going." | bletherer
08/4/2006 10:53 | 'The results were announced' ?? - they're next Thursday ! Future performance will depend entirely on the tone of the current trading statement l reckon. | mikepompeyfan
06/4/2006 21:11 | Very disappointing performance today - not only an acceleration of the downtrend but failed miserably to bounce at the 74.5p level which had previously provided good support. I haven't heard any MOSB-specific news since results were announced so presuming the continuing slide is more to do with broader pessimism about the retail sector. Whatever, if buyers don't come in very soon this looks like it will be dropping to the next rung on the ladder which on my estimate is something like 55-60p. | bletherer
09/2/2006 09:39 | I think you could describe that as "cautiously optimistic". Looks to be meeting with a fairly neutral response so far. | bletherer
09/2/2006 07:31 | Oh well, not too bad results. £6.2m is at the low end of the profit forecasts but you can't say it's the doom and gloom the share price performance this year might suggest. The statement is positive for the year ahead which bodes well too. Can't see any reason for the price to drop from here but then what do l know ? The cash balance of £17m continues to look interesting. If Moss can't spend it how about sharing it out as a special dividend. That would be nice !!!!!! | mikepompeyfan
07/2/2006 07:41 | Hmmm. The trading statements getting a little late. That usually means either unexpected good or bad news. Wonder which ? | mikepompeyfan
31/1/2006 21:56 | Let's hope it stays up - what level you hoping to sell at? You think it's possible to hold out for 125, around August time? | iamnew
25/1/2006 09:52 | Suddenly up through two levels of resistance on no news and little volume - what's going on? Any rumours doing the rounds? | bletherer
23/1/2006 18:21 | Looks like the shares are perking up in anticipation of the trading statement, which last year was on 3rd Feb. Fingers crossed the optimism is well founded. | mikepompeyfan
11/1/2006 18:43 | I'm still holding and optimistic. Hopefully a bad year for retailers is behind us and we can look forward again. As long as profits are near enough to forecasts l'll be happy that progress is still being made. Wish l could pick highs and lows in share prices though ! | mikepompeyfan
11/1/2006 16:20 | Why the bounce ? Good Christmas ? | ptgint
11/1/2006 15:03 | spoke too soon looks like its on the move | peter001
10/1/2006 15:37 | Looks like 74p is the line in the sand for this one. Any holders still out there with views on 2006 prospects? | bletherer
09/8/2005 09:27 | Bought a few today. | chester
03/8/2005 20:29 | time to pile in this stock will be £ 2.00 within 6 mths DYOR | peter001
05/6/2005 12:30 | Found this today from The Sunday Express :- Speciality Retail Group, the fashion chain that owns menswear chain Suits You, has been put on the market by its owner, the Brick family. Sources in the private equity community say SRG has appointed BDO Stoy Hayward to review options. Sources close to the deal said a number of private equity groups, thought to include Bridgepoint and Graphite, had approached listed menswear chain Moss Bross with the idea of merging the two. I'm not sure exactly what they're saying here. Are they trying to get mosb to buy Suits You or are they talking about taking over mosb and then merging the two ? Either way it could be good news if true. | mikepompeyfan |
