It needs to be written off and they just get out, market hates uncertainty
above all else.

As per today's RNS

The proposed disposal of the Group's three Russian packaging converting
operations to Gotek Group, as announced on 15 December 2022, is not connected
with the proposed disposal of Syktyvkar. This transaction remains in progress.

The agreed price is RUB 1.6 Billion = about 20 million USD

Well a pittance is still far more than what mr mkt currently values it at...i doubt they would give it away - this is a saffer co after all, they love the ruskies and vice versa

It's worth what Russian authorities say it's worth, they will very likely end up walking away with a pittance.

Why the market thought otherwise I can't understand and said the same from the original disposal announcement RNS.

Agree, SC is also looking like good value. Overall tho, imho, Mondi does offer the biggest, albeit somewhat hidden, value. Especially based on some kind of approval for russian assets. Atm PE is technically about 5 including these assets, or 9 if not
