09/3/2023 20:32 | EI,banks selling off heavily stateside,might pay to keep a brief. | contrarian joe
09/3/2023 16:08 | Joe, I expected a significantly larger cyclical downturn but got that one wrong. And you are right, rising longer term rates are in the background. | essentialinvestor
09/3/2023 15:06 | EI,yes understanding it's cyclicality is key imo. They have increased shareholder value over a ten year period. 2013,459m. 2022,960m. In between those years it has varied quite a bit,2022 may well be peak profits?. We have to also bear in mind 2yr (risk free), are now offering 5%. | contrarian joe
09/3/2023 13:38 | There could be a longer term opportunity here as Russia is clearly weighing. However calling the low is way above my pay grade. Sentiment as we know plays a large part in the short term but the quality/earnings of a business determines the longer term share price With a cyclical element macro also has a significant bearing. Earnings estimates can shift very rapidly in this sector due to operational gearing, in either direction!, Would tend to take those as rough guidelines only, particularly if looking 12-18 months out. | essentialinvestor
09/3/2023 11:00 | DS Smith look cheap?,don't like the 20% share dilution though. | contrarian joe
09/3/2023 10:50 | Only 10% up off the multi year low of 1245. DS Smith up 40% at todays drop | scepticalinvestor
09/3/2023 10:49 | Added some.Read across SMDS. | contrarian joe
09/3/2023 10:40 | I would say this level is the new bottom - give it 6 months and we will be near 2000p | scepticalinvestor

07/3/2023 16:10 | Added a small amount. | essentialinvestor
24/2/2023 13:04 | Justice, I'm referring to a bid possibility over the next 3-4 years. Somtimes these never happen, SN. and KGF have both looked prime takeover targets for the past 3 decades. | essentialinvestor
23/2/2023 23:02 | Can't see a takeover with the Russian mess ongoing. Once sorted perhaps. Covid lows were in the 1200's. | justiceforthemany
23/2/2023 18:55 | justice, £18 plus on the share price within 4 years realistic I reckon. Where it goes in the meantime.. - the market sees the year just ended as near peak cycle, with lower earnings ahead for the next 2 years, however worth saying forecasts in this sector can change very quickly, in either direction. Longer term the sector always bounces back and a bid would not be a surprise at some point. Quality company if you can live with the share price volatility. | essentialinvestor
23/2/2023 16:37 | Yes cheap on P/E terms circa 9 and historic chart. Does the balance sheet include the Russian assets? (Could they decide against the sale if no monies are forthcoming? The plants are still operating as normal and not every company has written off Russian assets). | justiceforthemany
23/2/2023 15:59 | Apologies did not mean to call you an imbecile. And yes mkt is forward looking but pe ttm is ridiculously low | scepticalinvestor
23/2/2023 15:19 | Market looking forwards, not backwards as you are. That being said, £13.70 may be a decent longer term buy price. | essentialinvestor
23/2/2023 14:18 | It doesnt matter you imbecile. They made 1billion plus profit excluding russia in 2022.You are barking up the wrong tree ly old chum | scepticalinvestor
23/2/2023 12:46 | Where's the cash from the Russian business sale..? Will they see a penny of that I wonder. | essentialinvestor
23/2/2023 12:34 | A proposed final dividend for the year ended 31 December 2022 of 48.33 euro cents per ordinary share will be paid on Friday 12 May 2023 to those shareholders on the register of Mondi plc on Friday 31 March 2023. | enami
23/2/2023 11:25 | Reckon it will close above 1420 today | scepticalinvestor
23/2/2023 11:13 | Added 3000 shares at under 1370 this am | scepticalinvestor
23/2/2023 09:40 | Nah Mondi always crashes on results - always sell day before and buy back in the am. | scepticalinvestor
23/2/2023 09:34 | All about Russia Lots of unknowns | justiceforthemany
