26/12/2013 20:28 | Thanks for your input galacticus, but, personally, I'll be sticking to the market fudamentals here :-) By that I mean more generally the overall group sales, cost of sales & ongoing cash burn. | timberwolf
26/12/2013 18:59 | big golden cross evolving and a break of 41 leads to blue sky , and now Chinese licence in place and first few contracts in place its positioned for a big 2014 imo. | galacticus
11/12/2013 07:29 | Some news but not good enough. In fact, unless a commercial customer, it's a bit lame and they need to move outside of universities. Great to help Fukushima but where's the money? Hope this is not thrown out just to keep shareholders fed BS. | p1nkfish
03/12/2013 08:12 | I'm obviously very happy with yesterdays news, although the Ottomen deal isn't a mega plant its still more the double the size of MWG largest plant to date and the first in China which is certainly progress. The job advert which was advertised last month stated: "In the light of current bids (Middle and Far-East as well as Europe) and the likelihood of there being a number of concurrent projects arising, this post is seen as a crucial hire for the business and will be tailored to attract the best" So I expect more news on the horizon in due course from the Middle East. The partnership with Hangzhou Water seems to be progressing well. | opaldouglas
02/12/2013 20:53 | I presume your call went well although I guess their hands are tied in terms of giving out any crucial new information? Good that it convinced you to stay though, looks like the company is going in the right direction too but as you say I need to do more research into its longer term plans and strategies | cheeseandbiscuits
02/12/2013 20:22 | T I'm a long term holder too. I have enough shares and had enough concern to phone the company some months ago. I can only suggest you consider doing likewise. New technology of this nature takes time to get established. This is a start in a major market with a very strong partner. Exciting future IMHO but DYOR. | mountain man
02/12/2013 19:53 | Timberwolf, as you are a long term holder and I only came in today I'm now a bit nervous as you don't sound all that convinced? I presume you must be confident of the growth? Is this contract enough to tip this company into an operating profit? I'm looking at it thinking this could easily get to 60?? | cheeseandbiscuits
02/12/2013 19:16 | As a long term MWG shareholder since just after launch (my average share price now down to 56p after various top-ups on dips) I see this as positive news, but nothing to get particularly excited about. I very much go along with the sentiment in the post from visionon #778. The first commercial Forward Osmosis desalination plant built at Al Najdah in Oman was only designed to have a capacity of 200 m3 per day, which although double the pilot plant at Al Khaluf, is frankly tiny. This new project is scheduled to have a capacity of around 500 m3 per day. For reference though, the largest modern plants today are designed for a capacity of over 200,000 m3 per day. OK, of course I'm not saying that I would expect anything like this, but I would still like to know MWG's future intentions are as to how they will be progressing sales in this sector. Will it be by licence? Will it be by actual plant construction (presumably with a partner(s)), or what exactly? I agree with visionon in that, also, IMHO, it's taking longer than originally envisaged for FO to take hold and one can only hope that this new project will be the catalyst for a quicker adoption in the global markets, where the potential for more efficient desalination operations is massive over the coming years. So, agree, happy but cautious. | timberwolf
02/12/2013 15:37 | L2 strong or are we tailing off for the day? I think more of the same tmrw either way personally | cheeseandbiscuits
02/12/2013 13:50 | VI viewed the announcement as the start of the transformational news that we all hoped for. More contracts will be forthcoming for both large and small plants. Just think of the number of small plants that could be supplied to coastal towns and villages not only in China but globally. The market is huge and a start has been made. Love the idea of making the start by supplying water to a up-market resort! DYOR | mountain man
02/12/2013 13:35 | I have mixed feeling about the RNS. The Ottomen deal is to supply a luxury island marina development. Good news but not exactly a transformational deal. Plant is relatively small and buyer relatively specialised. But I guess there might be lots of water stressed potential marina schemes in the increasingly wealthy orient. Containerised deal is interesting but slightly confusing in that it is for an existing RO unit, rather than somehow making it better by incorporating MWG's FO technology. Does that mean that MWG are struggling to get traction with FO ? I found the report below which is well worth reading. Dates from March 2012 so maybe some market consolidation since then. Overall - happy but cautious. My gut feeling is that FO is proving to be hard work but that water monitoring and water product middlemanship are growing steadily. Welcome thoughts of others here on the containerised market. hxxp://www.globalwat | visionon
02/12/2013 13:09 | Patience is all that was required and now it is paying off. Glad I took advantage at 30p and for me this is a hold for at least another 3 or 4 years. The market is huge and this is the platform that will propel significant growth from now on imho. Dyor | mountain man
02/12/2013 13:06 | Good news out of China and a mention by the PM too. Onward. | p1nkfish
14/11/2013 14:34 | Not waffle. Useful. Thanks. When it starts to move and win business it will be ripe to be bought out. | p1nkfish
12/11/2013 12:13 | Cameron is visiting China early December so maybe there will be a contract announced to coincide with that... Great find above Opaldouglas. Thanks. The ad wording suggests that they are in a hurry to get someone good. I think the last big recruitment push was for sales people so this ad suggests, dare I say it..., that the sales people may have success on the visible horizon. I still think that there will be a desal contract win this year but that the announcement might come as late as December. | visionon
12/11/2013 11:34 | What is holding up winning more Desalination work? It looks like a no-brainer for some parts of the world so why the slog? | p1nkfish

08/11/2013 07:26 | Certainly plenty of events in the diary! | opaldouglas
03/11/2013 20:39 | Saw the Toronto Money Show and a particularly interesting presentation about Saudi Arabia. Saudis are desperate to develop their own Wheat market and actively looking for desalination and salt tolerance in the plants. This might play to MWG ad PIM strengths. Both in emerging markets, both UK and both on the cusp of something impressive. | p1nkfish
31/10/2013 23:59 | This is desperate to see movement on the membrane front. Come on, throw us a bone. | p1nkfish
30/10/2013 20:18 | MWG keeping up appearances at MYANMAR water expo recently. | opaldouglas
29/10/2013 16:24 | p All falling into line for the patient. Lack lustre - I wouldn't call it that - it just takes a little longer over there - such a huge market and a massive area to operate in. I added too at around 30p. The large sells were mostly mopped up by Henderson who increased their stake by 2% from memory. Exciting times ahead I believe. DYOR | mountain man
29/10/2013 15:27 | They have to do something with monitoring looking at the so far lack lustre progress. FO, in theory, be a bit of a no brainer. Anyone know who the big seller was couple/3 weeks back? Have bought a couple of times on the back of their sells. Look forward to sales progress. | p1nkfish |
