25/11/2003 21:59 | i bought in yesterday and feel the upside is currently greater than downside. The next couple of weeks should prove intereting for the price. | thesilentassassin
25/11/2003 10:35 | The consolidation will stabilise the share price while decreasing the shares in circulation. So though you may not get the benifit of the divi in full it will increase in the end your share price. If as expected MAB start a share buy back this will have a great impact on the shre price. imho | onehanded
25/11/2003 08:37 | Only 2 days left to be able to get in for divi, must be by Dec 1st allowing for settlement. Results may be so good any massive increase could still see this kept in the FTSE, gossip that the company may on the dec 4th state a cancellation of 22% of the consolidation shares. It still could stay in? I'm waiting for my 68p a share payout on Dec 8th and then a break out of the range. | onehanded
24/11/2003 13:44 | Good interesting chat going on on this thread. Now I know what dividend washing is (thanks JakNife - are you getting bored of "thankyou's" yet?), I can't think of a better candidate for it than MAB (I'm also seeking out ignorant friends to teach them all about it!) | tainanmike
24/11/2003 13:29 | Thanks JakNife, More knowledge gleaned, I'll get the hang of the Market one day Neil | neilavery
24/11/2003 13:16 | Oh I see. Thanks. | charlie
24/11/2003 12:21 | What I can't understand is why dividend washing isn't caught by s703 ICTA 88? | charlie
24/11/2003 11:47 | Unless ADVFN's recording is wrong, over 20,000,000 of the shares traded are buys but the price is down. I don't understand it. | neilavery
22/11/2003 16:21 | Going to break £2.40p by end of next week. Special divi for holders Dec 1, then pull back and ending year on a high. imho | onehanded
21/11/2003 10:59 | Here what Colin Mclean highly rated value seaker of Scottish Value says in his monthly review:- Some investments are transforming, such as Mitchells & Butler, where even having missed buying Scottish & Newcastle's pub business, it has the potential to gear up and release value - either by buying other businesses or simply returning cash to shareholders. Mitchells & Butler has the potential to raise its shares to more like £3 than the £2.30 it stands at today. It could be a bid target. | washbrook
20/11/2003 09:31 | 230p has been tested a lot recently and now appears to be providing support | neilavery
18/11/2003 15:34 | I didn't say it wasn't legal JakNife (although the word 'crooked' may have inferred that!). I meant more that the transaction was not straightforward. | neilavery
18/11/2003 10:42 | Thanks JakNife, Another insight into the (crooked??) world of the City Neil | neilavery
18/11/2003 09:08 | Nice 4,000,000 buy this morning. Someone preparing for good results maybe!! | neilavery
13/11/2003 15:27 | It bounced back all the way, and some. The number of trades doesn't match - with ADVFN showing 6.5 million sales against 0.5 million buys. | neilavery
13/11/2003 14:18 | Mike, Was on holiday when it broke the 230 then started to bounce off 240. Looking at the share price today, following the news re consolidation finalisation, I wish I'd stayed on holiday. It does however appear to have bounced up off 226 which is the top of the down trend channel. | neilavery
13/11/2003 13:20 | So, the date is set! If I've understood everything right, on Tuesday 2nd December MAB opens post-consolidation, at 12/17ths of the previous days market cap. This will see it out of the FTSE a week or so later, at a cap. of about 1.2bn. | tainanmike
04/11/2003 17:00 | well looks like we will soon reach the promised land the tree shake scared many small investors --- hopefully the readers here weren't fooled into selling the shares too cheaply | bigboyo
31/10/2003 19:31 | Mike Many thanks for that! | toby tots |
