HOWLS: - Well it's really not a downgrade as such - they've just said - after a strong run - it's a HOLD rather than a BUY now.

Yes I think they're about right. TA analysis shows the RSI to be 80 and the MACD divergent in the upper part of the trend. I notice it has hit 890 twice and failed to go any further, so this may be the top before consolidation. 50% Fib retracement would take it to 828 taking 898 as the top. So this must be close to the profit point. All IMHO.

Goldman doesn't seem too convinced about the opco propco idea I think it is more that it doesn't expect Giles Thorley and his team will do the splits at this point in time. See Goldman prefers mitchells and butlers

Down 18 pence at the moment; is this a good old fashioned 'tree-shake'?

This would account for the rise:

LONDON (AFX) - Robert Tchenguiz, the Iranian billionaire, has sold a 1 bln
eur shareholding in Sampo after the Finnish insurance group off-loaded its
banking division, The Financial Times reported.
The newspaper did not name its source, but said R20, Tchenguiz's investment
vehicle, is expected to announce today that it has sold a 9.5 pct in Sampo to
Exista, the Icelandic financial services group, at a price of 22.20 eur a share.
This would value his stake at about 1.23 bln eur. R20 is thought to have
made a profit of about 300 mln eur on the investment, according to the
newspaper.
Tchenguiz recently took a 15 pct interest in Mitchells & Butlers PLC, made
up of a 3 pct stake with voting rights and around 12 pct acquired through
contracts for differences. He is believed to be using his holding to put
pressure on the board for conversion to the tax-efficient Real Estate Investment
Trust structure or to mount another takeover bid for the company. M&B
fought-off a 550 pence a share takeover bid from Tchenguiz last year.

Sold out back in the autumn, when the price was about 600p.

Decided I could better income elsewhere, and switched into SCTN. Every brewer I've held has sold out their brewing side, so I was left with a load of pub and hotel groups at one time. I'd held since the demerger, when they were 221p, and bought more at that sort of level, so they had done me well.

Keeps on going with no sign of some consolidation yet.

Personally I'm looking for a retrace to 683, this will be the 50% Fibonacci retracement level. Consolidation after the recent rise and a possible top up point. FTSE positive this morning which is helping it in the opposite direction.
