CURY no debt atm , paid off all at 2022 , paying dividend even buying back shares ... which I like about this company

The only thing of any note in CURY is the continuous fall in the share price along with all other retailers who are going to suffer badly with their costs rising and their sales falling because the public will have far less spending power in real terms over the next couple of years

The £ is so weak I will be very surprised if there not at least 2 other offers come in

There's no real benefit to MCRO if the deal fails as the share price will collapse to below the original share price

It is normal market reaction especially when taking a company that needs turning around and acquired at a massive premium. If they get the turnaround right then their share price will explode later

Not surprised given the awful Micro focus management.

Here's hoping the deal fails.

Since the offer was announced the share price of Open Text has gone down significantly.
Open Text shareholders may not be happy with the deal?

Anyone know if there are exit penalties if either side pull out of the deal? The 3% premium to 536p is probably not big enough to justify holding. If chunky exit penalties makes the deal more unlikely to fall through

CURY does have long term debt. It's not a lot but it does.

The reason I have moved to CURY because it has free cash 400p per share but trading 63p , NO DEBT , coming months it will be skyrocket

The bid is already recommended by management so unlikely to be rejected by shareholders. The share price is still at a discount to the bid price and there is veey good chance of a counter bid with potential of further upside.

They got good bid, double price than their entire revenue ... if not accept this bid then will be back to 200p or below , like Thg offer 170 now trading 58p ... NO ONE BID MORE THAN THAT !!

In my opinion, in the short ter, there is more chance of me making more here than CURY. (Counterbid and increase to bid price)

Profit reinvested in CURY , free cash 400p per share, revenue 10.1 billion , paying dividend even buying back shares

There are no hedge funds short in Micro Focus

I really hope some hedge funds were short here and got crucified on Friday. Dozens of UK companies are trading at all time lows with parasite hedge funds shorting stocks into oblivion. Asos and Boohoo are 2 stocks that have been pummelled by excess shorting

I saw an online article in the Times that suggests that Opentext with Micro Focus absorbed may be able to compete with bigger concerns such as Microsoft.

Perhaps Microsoft are considering taking steps to nip that in the bud? 😀

My spread bet closed automatically @ £5 (more than happy with that!), but no way will I be selling my holdings yet. The bid price should now offer support for the share price & whilst I tihnk the EGM will accept the board's recommendation to sell, that still leaves plenty of time for an alternative bidder to enter the fray.

There can only be one reason why open text made a cash offer (rare) at such a premium to the share price (98% very rare) & IMO they did so to deter alternative bidders. However unlikely it may sound, if open text are wary of a counter-bid, then they must also believe there is a chance one could surface!. ;-)

It's tricky, I may well follow your lead CC if there are no new offers soon.

I must admit I took 518p as I had an average of 330p with 25k worth that's a big profit. Especially when a lot of other high value stocks are getting smashed atm.

I managed to resist the temptation to sell today. The Canadian deal is due to complete in the first quarter of 2023 so there is a decent amount of space for other offers which may be possible. But hats off to the Canadians for making an offer that takes me from loss to profit and if there is a bidding war I hope they can win it Very welcome share movement.
