if the hedge funds reconsider and decide to close before the update then we should see 300p very quickly.

NED buys can be quite telling (they have far less skin in the game as their full-time counterparts). What pleases me however is the impact a relatively small buy had on the share price on Friday - a day where no excuse other than the news was needed to hit any stock hard. I wonder now will we see some more institutional buys before the interims, now that a couple of those closest to the action have shown their hand. That would really make life difficult for the hedgies. ;-)

@sr2day - are you planning to wait a bit more or do the second tranche after further confidence has been demonstrated by BOD?

I wouldn't feel sorry for them, they can close out between here and 5.00 GBP and probably up to 10.00 GBP and they will still have made a lot of money...

So directors been buying 250,000 grands worth the other day, another director buys the adrs. Trading update first or second week November, if a hint of positive news, then a run would up in the shareprice, early Xmas present for shareholders.
Bears are short roughly 14m plus shares. Good luck getting those back if Micro Focus have a run.

The directors of companies traded on the LSE cannot trade during the two months preceding a preliminary, final or interim earnings announcement and one month prior to a quarterly earnings announcement. Outside the trading ban periods, directors still require clearance to trade from the board's chairman. In contrast, there are no such restrictions in the US system which favours frequent disclosure to remove possible insider advantages rather than trading bans during price-sensitive times.

What a difference six weeks makes! Downward path confirmed. But very strange for the shorters to be so quiet today (Friday) on the day when DTrump falls ill. Look at the volume - down a million. So the hedgefunsters are together committing maybe as much as £1m to play against this each day, plus the hangers-ons here getting in on the act. Perhaps they didn't want to risk getting caught off-side during the day and having to stay exposed over the weekend. Something apart from Covid in the air possibly. I see the chairman bought heavily again this week. Presumably that's been taken as a shot across the bows. (Not that it's worked before.) I hear it'll be four or five weeks before we get some kind of update. Maybe some big moves coming.

The irony would be inescapable if we ended up blue on a day when near all of the FTSE is red.
