I don't really like the idea of buying a 30 plus menswear chain in the current environment, and I think this was a contributor to the fall. Although if the shops can be bought at a rock bottom price (like Greenmark was IMO) then maybe it's OK.

MM is incentivised to increase the market cap of the company, I believe, which this kind of deal will do, if equity is used?

Still I think this is too cheap.

With MPH on the verge of being cash rich(could be there already), this has got to be a rock solid investment, but how long before people realise?

The Financial rags will be covering the results this week, could see some movement as a result?

RSI showing very oversold. Not sure how strong wider markets will be - oif they hold I expect a wee bounce. Could be wrong.

Nardelli I would never use a stop, it gives the mm an open cheque to manipulate the market to their advantage at the cost's to the small investor imho. Last post until my return on the 11th, best wishes to everyone and happy days.............wbj

not being an expert in trading I was wondering if, stop's are put in place incase results are bad, and the MM hit them causing shares to tumble, you may have noted that none of the major shareholders have reduced their stake's.

"Men are also showing an increasing tendency to trade up and spend their cash on more upmarket labels such as Paul Smith, John Rocha and Richard James rather than mid-market chains. Even retailers such as Ted Baker, which are positioned a cut above the mass-market, are benefiting from this. This trend freezes out the mid-ranking chains."

This year we have £30 million from greeenmark, at least £20 million from Moda, £10 million from worldwide franchises of JCC(Japan, Korea, Dubai, Russia etc) leaving £30 million from other sources:- Europe, worldwide & UK with Homebody, Ungaro, Ungaro Homme, Boateng & JCC?

Plus whatever they pick up this year.

IMHO

With all due respect, a quick look at the header above or the recent RNS will tell you that MPH have many revenue streams and are looking for new aquisitions ( as per the above posts).

quote, MM EXPECTS TURNOVER TO DECREASE SLIGHTLY IN 08, could someone explain where the money is comming from now that there is no YSL, or might it be quite simple, that MPH has done a fine job and the loss of YSL has infact made this company get it's finger out and become much better.....

SMART MOVE, dumping YSL stock has also devalued the brand as it is now on discount, killing two birds with one stone, good news for us

there is no reason to buy anything other than a swatch watch to keep perfect time, in fact there is no reason to buy a watch as your mobile phone comes with a clock, but people do, I pay 140 quid for my armani jeans, and not 30 for a plastic suit from tesco, might be ok for the pole's, but I've never been in tesco's,
