18/7/2007 07:45 | Good morning.Yesterday buyer @ 156p of 25k paid premium to prevailing share price at the time.Leading into close on line quoted offer @ 156p. We know there are deals in the pipeline.Wonder whether news heading Marchpoles way. Share price movements were discussed yesterday. In my experience share prices eventually do what they are supposed to do however not necessarily at the supposed time or when you expect.Co-incidently as MPH share price cheapening Barclays have been accumulating raising their holdings from 7% to a little over 10% @ 10.43%.Funds were also buying @ 177p. Take o/t CCT for instance, broker target price of 250p and still went down to just below 150p and recovered to 180s.MPH has also touched just below 150p despite well respected Hardman and co,who raised MPH target price from 175p to 240p. | ![]() lex1000

17/7/2007 15:11 | bletherer I would much prefer your version of events than mine otherwise the market is screwed in favour in an adverse way against the pi's. Thanks for your take on what happens to affect price movement. Hopefully there will be more buyers than sellers for a long while now................. | ![]() wbjunior
17/7/2007 15:04 | wbjunior - I just think it's "the market", not MMs, that do it, so I'd say "the price drops" not "the price is dropped"; MMs are primarily just middle-man not superpowered manipulators IMO. It's true, if an initial wave of selling pushes the price down below a certain level you will often get a secondary wave of selling caused by stop-losses being hit which will exaggerate the move. But MMs are just reacting to the fact that sells are outweighing buys, for whatever reason, and will keep dropping the price until that stops. | ![]() bletherer
17/7/2007 14:57 | Dropping the price to trigger stop losses and start panic selling imho................ | ![]() wbjunior
17/7/2007 14:37 | dropping the price to tempt the sellers?!?! Why would a seller be tempted at 148 if he is not tempted at 150+?? Perhaps you mean "to panic the sellers", the old tree-shake routine? But that's a very over-worked idea. It gets mentioned all the time on BBs because holders are looking to justify their "hold" in the face of price weakness by supposing it is a MM trick prior to a renewed hike in the price. Although of course it would be handy for a MM if he can dupe holders into selling at lower prices when he has a large buy order to fill it's a very high-risk strategy and not one I think is actually adopted very frequently. If instead you get a "normal" market reaction and extra buyers come in at lower prices then the MM who's short of stock simply digs himself a big hole with this "tree-shake". Call me a naive fool if you want but I actually think the obvious explanation for price moves is more commonly the correct one: price rises when there's an excess of buyers and falls when there's an excess of sellers. Simple as that. | ![]() bletherer
17/7/2007 13:35 | I don't think there can be many down here, all the sellers got taken out last week. | eagle eye3

17/7/2007 09:42 | If past trends anything to go by,think we have seen mms flag up a definite buy signal this morning.Chartwise 150p is known to be a good launch pad.Watch for mid point @ 162.5p.No brainer.o/t CCT risen off 145p-150p lows and now trading back above 180p.MPH should now follow.aimvho.DYOR. | ![]() lex1000
17/7/2007 09:36 | So yesterday the amount of shares available to buy online were 25K and to sell 1K, now this morning that has changed somewhat to 10K to sell and 10K to buy. Happy days are here again....hopefully | ![]() cheaky monkey
