22/1/2007 09:18 | Hey Franck, love your work! Seems like quite a coup to me to get him. Highly respected. | momentos
22/1/2007 09:06 | New Recruit: Franck Boclet, ex Francesco Smalto (who he?!) [Dodgy google translation:] Le Figaro 22 Jan 2007 In the list of the departures also Franck Boclet appears. In station at Francesco Smalto since more than fifteen years, this wire wonder of the founder will have held five years, after the repurchase of the brand by the businessman Alain Duménil. "If it is always difficult to make the decision to leave a house, he says, saddest is that the new concept of shop for which I fought during years finally will be established this spring. " Franck Boclet is not the first to see his wishes being carried out after his departure. Of tired war, vis-a-vis not held promises, certain designers prefer outward journey to see elsewhere, with more or less passing. At the end of its last Smalto procession, on January 29, Franck Boclet will be named at Emanuel Ungaro to develop a menswear line, under licence with the Marchpole English. "Ungaro does not have more history than of workshop in male fashionm, but they attracted me." | momentos
21/1/2007 18:23 | Er, no they don't! Jan 07 is a precis of 28 Nov detailed note... Jan 07: With company guidance suggesting that sales in the second half of the year are likely to be close to those in the first half we have significantly increased our estimated full year sales. Unfortunately, this has not translated into a significant upgrade in earnings per share owing to sizeable one-off discounts being offered to YSL buyers 28 Nov 2006: In our inaugural research note of 5 October we had forecast full year 2007 sales for Marchpole of £56.2m. Clearly we had under-estimated the extent of final YSL take up. With indications suggesting that sales in the 2H07 will be at a similar level to those achieved in the 1H we have arrived at a new full year sales figure for 2007 of £73.5m. We have also adjusted our estimated cost base to allow for 1) the discounts offered to buyers purchasing YSL garments and 2) refined our general overhead estimates to better reflect the additional costs incurred through the acquisition of Moda America and general improvements in distribution efficiency which appear to be being maintained. After incorporating these adjustments and allowing for the higher than expected interest charge we have derived a new estimate for full year 2007 net profit before tax of £8.2m, marginally higher than previously forecast. .................... Zoundz about the same to me... just more meat on the bones in the earlier note! | momentos
21/1/2007 13:13 | Unfortunately Hardman seem to be backtracking from the YSL Bounce they expected to see in that report. Their latest News letter is much more downbeat about the expected bounce. MARCHPOLE HOLDINGS Marchpole produced an excellent set of results for the period ending 30 September 2006. Sales were up 159% in the half year, net income was up 343% and operating cashflow up 857%. The company improved its liquidity position, reducing its net gearing ratio from 98% at the end of March 2006 down to 66%. Importantly as we have previously noted this is the final year in which Marchpole will manufacture its Yves Saint Laurent (YSL) line. Marchpole's latest set of financial results clearly indicate that the company's buyers have been stocking up on YSL garments we believe that YSL sales in the first half of the current financial year have exceeded total full year YSL sales in the prior 2006 year. With company guidance suggesting that sales in the second half of the year are likely to be close to those in the first half we have significantly increased our estimated full year sales. Unfortunately, this has not translated into a significant upgrade in earnings per share owing to sizeable one-off discounts being offered to YSL buyers. | 0o0
20/1/2007 10:33 | lex - I presume the strong buy is the Hardman rec, starts about 3 months ago. I haven't updated selected posts in ages.... As to the test leanings, many computer screens (esp crt) are susceptible to magnetic fields. It could be changes to the earth's magnetic field caused by the movement of huge amounts of Marchpole goods... | momentos
19/1/2007 15:11 | No problem. The truth is out there. Didn't take your comments as sarcastic. I am glad to know he is not gone, but as mentioned several announced on the way in have been un-mentioned on the way out (or to the frying pan...) I'll carry on the backroom research, you can do the field work! | momentos

19/1/2007 14:54 | Did you ask about TOm Wallis, Donald Potard etc etc while you were on?! No momentos - please note I was genuine in thanking you for highlighting MPH's usual approach to "missing directors" and I wasn't being sarcastic, in case you got the wrong end of the stick. Wallis is before my time but I certainly remember the Potard (and Tufnell) story. You do a great job here. Let's work together to try to get the "inside track" :0). | marben100
19/1/2007 14:43 | Looks like it has been corrected! [oops didn't see your post :0)] | marben100
19/1/2007 14:42 | See #83 - already corrected. Did you ask about TOm Wallis, Donald Potard etc etc while you were on?! | momentos
19/1/2007 14:41 | Thanks for the info momentos... However, I've contacted MPH and they say that HS is still company secretary and a non-exec. I pointed out that he wasn't on the web-site and they said that that was a mistake. We'll see if it gets corrected ;-) Regards, Mark | marben100
19/1/2007 14:34 | Erm must have been a quick cruise. He has reappeared!!! Welcome back Mr Shulman. We'll just have to hope he hasn't been trepanned. Mmm Fava beans... | momentos
19/1/2007 12:36 | wbj - he was also company secretary. TBH, given his age (60) situation in life (10m + richer since sold solitaire) etc. I dont see anything sinister. He's probably just gone on a world cruise... | momentos
19/1/2007 12:32 | Yes Marben, but you dont update your site by accident! Both Profile and picture have disappeared. Front page updated to remove YSL as a brand, but re-appears when you use the dropdown after selecting a different brand first. There is a history of this with other disappearing people. Tom Wallis, Moda, Donald Potard, JCC, historically Robert Wieder(although strictly speaking he wasnt a director but was Co Sec) have suddenly evaporated. News articles elsewhere have subsequently indicated their departure. They are usually RNS'd in but not RNS'd out (cf. Jose Levy) As Argy has suggested there could be some more sinister explanation .... Nice Chianti anyone? | momentos
19/1/2007 12:27 | Part time non executive director, so no worries I hope, but should notify holders if that is the case...............w | ![]() wbjunior
19/1/2007 12:16 | There hasn't been any RNS about HS' departure, AFAICS. Is it just based on the absence of his details from the MPH website that we're assuming he's gone? | marben100

19/1/2007 11:59 | momentos, you maintain a quality thread, archives going back to year dot,in depth research, route out any information even that hidden in the 'crevices' doing it in 'style'and with pleasing mix of humour. When MPH eventually motors north be it imminently or longer then all is forgotten appreciation and pleasing emotions more intense than otherwise would be.Community thread purrrrrrrrfect. | ![]() lex1000 |
