27/11/2006 10:08 | Lex , it would have been very helpful to investors if some indication as to the S/S ranges had been given, as they did in the interim report the year before. If anyone has any clue to how its going I would be interested to hear........wbj | ![]() wbjunior
27/11/2006 09:58 | wbjunior,it's a strange game this shares lark.Recently changed personal strategies thanks (hopefully)in part to other posters on MPH thread. On the wobble MPH dipped intraday 114p/115p,do not see share price ever going below - advfn monitor did briefly show 112p but it never got there.Market waiting on more news and MPH looks safe hold short and long term subject to nothing unforseen.Sat between resistances 112.5p & 125p. Chart indicates sell which mms probably take advantagge vis a vis sell @ 114p pre open. On that basis imo 114p/115p buying not selling point.o/t hot stock is CCT which mentioned here 76p/77p,links change of strategy mentioned above, divi paying share too and results tomorrow.Good luck.lex | ![]() lex1000

26/11/2006 09:12 | I recon the acquisition must be a private company as its near impossible to find a plc in the rag trade with as little as 10 million turnover listed, we shall see..............wbj Dan cash rich bt the end of the 2008 financial year imo | ![]() wbjunior

25/11/2006 11:48 | momentos Agree, but the statement also says in the near future and that to my mind is before Christmas. I believe also that the YSL contribution this year has funded the continued investment costs for Ungaro and JCC as both only broke even at the interim stage suggesting investment to me and profit to come in the second half. As with the Ungaro acquisition this new one if coming with a reasonable turnover could be the push that is needed to get investors firmly on board, funding it is another question, probably shares + cash................ PS Thanks for your research work last week, very interesting to read about Tom Wallis , keep it up. | ![]() wbjunior

25/11/2006 09:46 | Date: Wednesday 15 Nov 2006 LONDON (ShareCast) - Fashion house Marchpole is poised to add another string to its bow as it announced it was close to concluding another acquisition in the near future. "We are currently in negotiations for an acquisition which we hope to conclude in the very near future," said Marchpole. The group acquired luxury clothing company Homebody in the last year. Marchpole reported a jump in pre-tax profit to £4.0m for the six months to September compared with £1.0m last time, on turnover of £38.6m from £14.9m a year ago. Executive deputy chairman Michael Morris said, "We are delighted with the progress made in securing additional licence and distribution agreements for both JCC and Emanuel Ungaro, and also the acquisition of the luxury brand Homebody." The group, which loses its 30 year relationship with Yves Saint Laurent at the end of 2006, also lifted its interim dividend to 1.5p from 1.25p previously. Could be Ted Baker............... | ![]() wbjunior

24/11/2006 11:37 | With Thanksgiving yesterday, US market closure, FTSE dropping back in sympathy, and the exchange rate rising to 1.93, we can either sit around and wait for the locusts to arrive! or go out and enjoy a long weekend. Any effort little MPH might have liked to make today will be completely swamped until next week, so I'm for the long weekend. Best of luck all. | ![]() petersinthemarket
24/11/2006 09:58 | Yes, Mr Morris does have an interesting history, and a penchant for the high life! He got a bit over exuberant with the expense account ... allegedly. Cant disagree completely but Morris is not about to go anywhere he started the company and has been running it for decades (barring one small period). It is a risk, but an acceptable one. | momentos |
