Yes sorry my words were wrong . Ok I will try again .

Bedriddens Tax Rises , including Corporation Tax are set to increase Tax Rates in the Individual States between 38 per cent and in some States it will be close to 50 per cent .
In fact Andrew Ross Sorkin ( A pure Leftie ! ) said of Bedriddens Tax plans .
The new Tax rules were coming so quickly , it was difficult to keep up with them !.

So zaco .. The Tax Take is set to increase up too 38 per cent and as much as 50 per cent , depending on which State you live in .

That ok for you ?

SS - no don't bother supplying data. What did you say? Oh, I know. Corporation tax is set to double in US. No it's not. 21% to 28% is not doubling. But of course you know that.

SS - You made a statement. There was no reference to it being a hypothetical situation. And as for potential corporation tax rises in USA, how much of Merchants Trust income is derived from US based companies? Please supply data.

Being hypothetical.
Companies may not continue to pay all their present dividends if they get additional tax levied
I will put it another way .
America is going to double it's corporation tax
Are you saying to me that those corporations will pay that double tax and not cut , dividends , staffing levels etc ?

What's the additional 40% tax on dividends companies have to pay?

Thanks for your reply . I have never had any investment in MRCH . I will short it ( if I can now ? ) Should it get back to £5.50 mark . My theory for that is , it would mean that two years of Corona has had zero effect on all of MRCH holdings . It's literally as technical from me as that :-).

As far as dividends go . For me people are looking at the wrong thing . Ie A companies ability to pay the dividend .
They should be looking at upcoming Taxation and regulation .
If a company pays out say 50 million in dividend , due to Corona they incur an additional 20 million in taxation one way or another .
Does this mean the company will shell out 70 million . 50 Divi plus 20 additional tax. Or they will still shell out 50 million . 20 additional tax and reduce the Divi to 30 ??
