10/10/2018 09:31 | Minerve - you seem to really jump at anyone on here with a view that differs to your own. Still whinging about the bonus they earned. they could have sat on the couch and not created mro and people could have not enjoyed returns that are beyond what most companies make in 100 years, let alone 10. Communist. | dodger16
10/10/2018 09:07 | "MW, she is a NED, not an Exec Director, so she will be on a small salary" Really? You think non-executives are on small salaries? LOL Would you call £20K/30K/40K/2 | minerve
10/10/2018 08:45 | Only one fund short | jackdaw4243
10/10/2018 08:13 | MW, she is a NED, not an Exec Director, so she will be on a small salary. | gettingrichslow
09/10/2018 22:45 | It continues to amaze me to see more examples of Boards of Directors of our major companies treating their shareholders like idiots. Here's another example :- With the share price on the slide, in a massive vote of confidence in the company's future progress and share price recovery, Charlotte Twyning, newly appointed Non-executive Director of Melrose, invests a week's wages in buying 36000 MRO shares. To be fair to her it could be a fortnight's wages. | meanwhile
09/10/2018 21:21 | Monkey nuts should arrive here on Thursday. | meanwhile
09/10/2018 20:52 | MW Pass me that bag | jackdaw4243
09/10/2018 18:10 | Massive write down would be the par for the course, however there are many bits to GKN other than car drives so it may not be a liability. | jackdaw4243
09/10/2018 15:52 | There will be a massive write down coming. They massively overpaid for GKN. | hvs
09/10/2018 13:09 | If they fall much further, the dividend yield could go above 1%. | meanwhile
09/10/2018 12:57 | Year end 31st December, results March. I hope you can wait until then. Some of us may be more interested in what happens in the next few days. | meanwhile
09/10/2018 12:11 | Year end 31st December, last year they had a loss £184 Mn. It will be interesting to see how they treat the GKN purchase if there is a big write-down in value. | jackdaw4243
09/10/2018 12:04 | GKN shareholders who approved the takeover by Melrose, and who went for Melrose shares, are now rubbing their hands, not only in anticipation of the next dividend, but in the knowledge that the bid price was now the equivalent of 375p. | meanwhile
09/10/2018 11:52 | I've just ordered a 20kg bag of monkey nuts, for my own consumption, in anticipation of the next Melrose dividend. I know this won't be until April/May but I have long term credit. I'm not expecting much as final dividend, the company having been stretched since making the £150M bonus payments, and don't expect the board to squander its well earned profits on its own shareholders. | meanwhile
09/10/2018 11:16 | Right about the falling knife, anyone know what the short situation is, a funny free fall. | jackdaw4243
09/10/2018 10:44 | Mmmmm...... | brain smiley
08/10/2018 20:45 | Many thanks MEANWHILE. | jackdaw4243
08/10/2018 20:25 | In addition to the turnoff due to the greed of the board, why would you buy the shares now? 1. For the dividend. No. 2. Investing in british industry. Hardly, not much production at home and expect most divisions to be sold overseas in due course. 3. Capital gain. A long wait ahead here. | meanwhile
08/10/2018 20:11 | jackdaw4243, You are correct, we all knew of the bonus scheme, so it was no surprise. Excessive greed is rarely a surprise. We know they made very good returns for their shareholders but as substantial shareholders themselves they benefited in the same way. They also get huge salaries to cover the work they do for us. But that wasn't enough for them. They wanted more so they created 3% more shares, 150M quids' worth, took them all and to pay for it the price of all shareholders holdings fell 3%, in line with the share price. Now that turns off a lot of investors these days. | meanwhile
08/10/2018 19:46 | Yes They bought GKN that was/is an asset. | jackdaw4243
08/10/2018 17:34 | Think £ 1.50 is possible in the next 6 months. Its nasty out there and they has pension deficit a plenty. No body is buying UK assets its a standstill. | hvs
08/10/2018 17:22 | How low can it go?, Don't say to zero hvs!. Market cap of £8.8 Billion at the close. | essentialinvestor
08/10/2018 16:15 | They desrve it. Just look at the graph above. | hvs
08/10/2018 14:50 | The bonuses recently paid, total around £150M, almost 2X the total paid out to cover the last dividend, and that was to cover almost 5 Billion shares. Doesn't sound right to me. | meanwhile |
