Takeaways restaurant as everyone knows

Sorry if this in on here already. Our local Marston's pub is closing this Sunday for the foreseeable. Member of staff told me.

It's possible that there's a surge in bottled beer sales which could help Marston's weather the storm.

Marston is a well run business that has done nothing wrong.
In a few weeks destroyed by an act of God.

Holing my now small stake, I will go down with the ship.

Government says avoid pubs and restaurants
But make your way to your nearest Aldi and squeeze in with 600 others
What a load of tosh

Looks like Marstons is priced for high risk of failure, M&B almost as bad. FST holding up a little better, not surprisingly.

Given Marstons high debt and the choke that COVID will put on their cash-flow, with or without forced pub closures, the drop is not surprising. The best hope would be some fiscal relief from Govt. to protect businesses which are being forced to take a hit to control spread of the virus. Sunak is due to make an announcement today on that, may be a chance for a quick buy if it is positive for MARS, if you are brave!

Laura Ashley has called in the administrators, though I think that is a special case as the major shareholder may walk away with the business and let go of the other shareholders.

What is the chance that the creditors will take this lot ?
Even if they get a payment holiday the debt will keep rising - so you end up with a zombie company and sooner or later the creditors take it.

Ralph Findlay has demonstrated what happens when you ignore all common business sense.
My prediction for 20p Wednesday is looking close.
I would think that 15p or less is on the cards for Friday.

Seriously wonder if this can survive
Far too much debt and very little revenue coming in.
Share price chart looks horrendous and tells the story here

I thought the stock market was supposed to look six months ahead by which time the worst of covid-19 should be over. Seems to me absurd that MARS is valued at <25% of net tangible assets. I would have thought temporarily suspending the dividend (some £48m?) would provide significant breathing space not to mention any government assistance that should be forthcoming. In the meantime, shorters seem to be having a field day.

The ceo is coming over as a rabbit in the headlights. How can you retain your job when you have been responsible for blunders and strategic errors. High borrowings could be very bad news if people stop going to the pub and cashflow dries up.

Your going to see a coordinated suspension of bank capital ratio regulations in return for temporary forbearance measures. Marston's won't go bust nor will the airlines etc etc.
