I am sure that RF is happy that there is still plenty portfolio to sell off, until he retires.

No, they don't, and largest shareholder Hargreaves Lansdown are clearly just there as Nominees for many "small guys". But the others should be encouraged to stir the pot. In another case like this, I found both M&G and Standard Life willing to engage with rational argument and M& G is a large shareholder here too. May be worth pushing them to be a bit more 'activist'.

The Marstons strategy -

Our corporate strategy centres on creating more happiness, delivering more experience and enabling more opportunities for our people, our customers and our stakeholders, every day.

So there you go, the board is making us happy by enabling us with opportunities at 93p a pop!

I note from the AR that, were they to hit all bonus targets, RF's remuneration would be a staggering £2.4m. However, as they haven't, he's had to make do with around £800k/year. He shares our pain.

I think the trouble here is that the whole set-up is so cosy and comfortable. Same CEO for nearly 20 years, everyone quite well paid, no need to rock the boat etc. They need a damned good shake-up but what's the catalyst for that? The Board themselves don't hold many shares - RF the biggest holder with 1.3m shares (about 1 year's remuneration!) - but why are the institutional shareholders happy to let this drift along going nowhere? One of these guys needs to start making waves -

I can't think where you got that idea, dinvester. I think I've always taken the position that Marstons Board and Management are a bit comfortable and sleepy and need shaking up. Looking back through my posts to check what I said, perhaps you are thinking of the exchange you and I had about RF's 'multiple Directorships' (which turned out to be mainly MARS operating subsidiaries)?
