06/3/2006 20:12 | I doubt that BT would increase Oxus's holding in MKD if there was any doubt over the Khandiza licence, so this has got to be good news for MKD's prospects of finally getting the licence. Who knows, if Jerooy does go to arbitration then Oxus will have a whole lot of mining equipment and technical expertise suddenly become available that might be rerouted to Khandiza so the mine can be brought into production even faster. | zaphod99
06/3/2006 19:51 | Phillis - inclined to disagree If the institutions have been bought out, OXUS have done it at a premium to 20p to compensate them for loss of earnings over 2 yrs and loss of huge potential investment. Yes i appreciate OXS/MKD have similar institution register, before i hear the OXS argument ! Still convinced there will be a share price squeeze simply 'cos of the hedged positions; let's wait and see. Which ever way round you view this it will be good for MKD holders. You're obviously still not cheered. | giant steps
06/3/2006 19:51 | Phillis, Agreed, but I would expect somewhere in the 30+p region. Perhaps this might help to give the Uzbek authorities a gentle push to get a move on as it is really OXS who is applying for the JV, not MKD, in other words, the people who are delivering on Amantaytau, Vsok etc.and know how to build mines quickly to take advantage of the metals bull market. | pecker1
06/3/2006 19:42 | Guys No joy in this unless you hold OXS. OXS will buy us out on fair but not outrageous terms | phillis
06/3/2006 19:28 | tee man - who said they have sold at a loss ? May be they were offered 50p or more Market will be looking for some answers tomorrow. | giant steps
06/3/2006 19:24 | More than happy if everyones expectations are proved right, but it does beg the question why are the institutions selling at a loss at this point in time, However Oxus would not have purchased them unless they were pretty sure about it's future so there's the quandry. I assume they must have bought them from the intitutions because of the quantity. | tee man
06/3/2006 19:06 | Yes SS, I think you are right. They'd have surely mentioned a placing if there had been one. It all sounds very good. Trumpet the company's prospects, and then put their money where their mouth is. "Agreement in principle" on the JV sounds very good too (only minor details to sort out?). | nobull
06/3/2006 19:06 | Sidney, Yes, will probably be some more announcements soon re revised institutional holdings. I can't think of a more positive support for MKD than this OXS buying. Who better to assess the potential? And why buy from third parties when you can get these assets dirt cheap? Have to assume that the combination of higher prices for zinc, copper and, particularly, silver has caused this strategic rethink. They probably think there is more value to OXS in having a major source of silver production - should go down well with North american investors. | pecker1
06/3/2006 19:06 | Lets wait and see. | cezary
06/3/2006 19:03 | Well done Cezary. There'll be no time for folk to acquire a significant holding, we know that and i'm sure tomorrow will reward your strategy. All the best. | giant steps
06/3/2006 19:02 | SidneySlacker - almost certainly the case, PI's well placed Those that are short on this stock will be having a sleepless night. Expect an enormous squeeze in the coming hours, days and weeks. Well done OXS, very smart move. | giant steps
06/3/2006 19:01 | Well, as a pi I am glad I have accumulated a sizeable holding over the last year | cezary
06/3/2006 18:57 | I think it is more likely some of the new OXS holding has come from one of the other Institutional holders? | sidneyslacker
06/3/2006 18:54 | The 104% then may mean some new shares have been issued? | nobull
06/3/2006 18:52 | Yes you were right GS. The only way is up now. No increase in share capital. That is very good. For a moment I thought they might have been obtained in a placing. | nobull
06/3/2006 18:51 | Are there any small investors left ? OXUS 81.58% Asset value 5.76% Caisse de Depot 5% Libra Advisors 3.85% RAB Specials 3.79% Directors 1.71% ML c1% Carmignac-Gestion c1% MAED .51% That totals 104% !! | giant steps
06/3/2006 18:47 | I thought OXUS may be share price supportive, but this is amazing ! RNS 6 March 2006 " Marakand Minerals Limited ("Marakand" or "the Company") received notification on 6 March 2006 pursuant to the provisions of the Companies Act 1985 that Oxus Gold Plc and its direct and indirect subsidiaries, being non-beneficial holders, has increased its shareholding from 57,817,918 ordinary shares by 24,592,562 ordinary shares and now holds 82,410,480 ordinary shares, representing an increase from 57.23 per cent to 81.58 per cent of the ordinary issued share capital of the Company. " | giant steps
06/3/2006 18:45 | They will offer for the minorities not because they are obliged to but because they will not want the hassle and at current prices they obviously think it's a steal | phillis
06/3/2006 18:32 | otd: I doubt it, because there has been no change of control of MKD. I don't see why Oxus should have to make an offer to the minority shareholders. It may do so because it is a nuissance having to deal with a small minority holding. | nobull
06/3/2006 18:21 | You can still buy in Germany for the next 40 minutes. Price: 0.27 Euro. Symbol: PUO, WKN: A0BKT6 (please chack yourself if these are correct) Q: What are rules? Does OSX have to make an offer now for all shares? thanks, otd | otd
06/3/2006 18:18 | Now that OXS have bought another 24million shares, it doesnt leave a lot in free float after you take in pi s' and institutional ownership. With such a small amount really in free float, once the news comes I reckon the share price will rocket!! | cezary
06/3/2006 17:58 | Wonder what price OXS will offer the remaining minorities? | phillis
06/3/2006 17:16 | With Jeeroy looking uncertain you would think they would not be overly keen to expose themselves to too great an additional speculative risk? I would take this as a positive sign for MKD's prospects short term? | sidneyslacker
06/3/2006 17:13 | Bloody Hell! So they've been buying most of what they sold back at lower prices, maybe for months! What do they know that we don't? Wish I added today now. Musn't get greedy. LOL! | dogberry202000 |
