You may remember Continental Nickel. Well this company has been merged back into the original parent company IMX Resources (formerly Goldstream Mining), which was originally only listed on the ASX. However as a result of the deal IMX is now listed on the TSX too (IXR), and also has some listed warrants (IXR.WT).

There is a new CEO in place (Neil Meadows) and things really look to be accelerating at the Nachingwea project in Tanzania, with very frequent newsflow.

As I have said on many occasions, this is obviously the best large nickel sulphide discovery in years, and with the drilling they are doing the Resource statement will just continue to grow and grow. A Voiseys Bay analogue (80m tonnes @ 2% Ni) is not completely out of the question. This deposit was sold for c.$5bn when nickel priced at much lower levels than it does now.

The stock suffers from distressed pricing (at c.$50m market cap) based on depressed iron ore prices which negatively affect the cashflow from the company's existing DSO operation at Cairn Hill in South Australia.

I think if you look at IMX as a "turn-around" story with a stupendous in-ground asset and a possibility of positive cashflow in the near-term if and when iron ore rebounds it has much merit.

There are around 400m shares fully diluted.

Sage, I am buying GeoMegA on dips. Their updated resource estimate is due in December, and the PEA is due in Q1 2013. Their most recent RNS suggested they are targeting 2000 tonnes of neodymium production per year initially. That's close to $200m revenue from Nd alone and excludes the other REEs and niobium. All looks good and could be an interesting few months ahead as their resource size increases and their economics are announced. They will need to dilute (probably quite heavily) in the next few months to fund their pilot plant. imho, gla. ps - drkay is my other ID and the website was a weekend project which I don't have time to maintain right now.

Dear Subscriber,

LYDIAN INTERNATIONAL EXERCISES OPTION AND ACQUIRES 100% OWNERSHIP OF AMULSAR GOLD PROJECT

TORONTO, Ontario, September 26, 2012. Lydian International Ltd. (TSX: LYD) ("Lydian" or "the Company"), a gold-focused mineral exploration and development company, is pleased to announce that it has completed the acquisition of the remaining 5% minority interest (the "Minority Interest") in its subsidiary, Geoteam CJSC ("Geoteam"), pursuant to the terms of its previously announced option purchase agreement dated December 9, 2010 between Lydian and Hayk Aloyan. As a result of the acquisition, Lydian now indirectly owns 100% of the Lydian discovered Amulsar gold project in Armenia through its 100% ownership of Geoteam.

The purchase price for the Minority Interest was satisfied by the Company in full by paying to the vendor CAD $500,000 in cash on December 22, 2010, and issuing to him 2,000,000 ordinary shares (the "Payment Shares") in the capital of the Company. The Payment Shares were issued in installments of 500,000, 250,000, 250,000, 250,000 and 750,000 on January 18, 2011, June 27, 2011, December 20, 2011, June 25, 2012 and September 24, 2012, respectively.

"The acquisition of 100% of the Amulsar gold project marks a significant step for Lydian." said Tim Coughlin, Lydian's President and Chief Executive Officer. He also added that "we continue to focus on our goal of commencing production at Amulsar and creating value for all of our stakeholders, including the country of Armenia and its local communities that support the project and our shareholders".

Dear Subscriber,

LYDIAN DRILL RESULTS ILLUSTRATE IN-PIT RESOURCE CONVERSION STRATEGY AND HIGHLIGHT ADDITIONAL RESOURCE POTENTIAL BEYOND THE PIT-SHELL AT ERATO AND ARSHAK; AMULSAR GOLD PROJECT ARMENIA

88 meters and 94 meters at 1g/t gold intersected at Erato and Artavasdes; geotechnical drilling uncovers new gold north of Tigranes

TORONTO, Ontario, September 24th, 2012. Lydian International Ltd. (TSX: LYD) ("Lydian" or "the Company"), a gold-focused mineral exploration and development company, today announced results from resource conversion and step-out drilling at its Amulsar gold project in Armenia. Amulsar is a feasibility level (see press release 7th of September 2012) high-sulfidation style, heap-leach gold project with reported CIM compliant reserves and resources as indicated in Table 1 below

Results have been received from a further 30 drill holes at Amulsar comprising primarily resource conversion and step-out drilling from the Arshak, Erato, Tigranes and Artavasdes areas (see Table and Figure 1 in Appendix).

Notable intersections include:

Mineral reserves at Amulsar are commonly surrounded laterally and sometimes at depth by a halo of inferred category resources some of-which reside within the proposed pit-design and for the purpose of feasibility study (FS) modelling, have been considered as waste (see Figure 2). The Company's 2012 drill program has focussed on infill drilling those areas of inferred category resources residing within the current FS pit-shell with the aim being to convert them to mineral reserves (see Figures 2 and 3 in Appendix). These new drill results illustrate the ongoing success of this program with drill holes RCA-459 and RCA-460 returning significant gold results from within current the FS pit and in the inferred resource category halo at Arshak (Figure 4 in Appendix).

Drill holes RCA-459 and RCA-460 also highlight the success of the ongoing resource extension program with potential new ounces being added by deeper drilling below the current base of the pit design. At the Erato area DDA-313 intersected 88 meters at 1.0 g/t and 19 meters at 1.2 g/t gold below the pit (open at depth; see Figure 5 in Appendix) and at Tigranes DDA-322 also intersected gold below the current pit design (see table in Appendix). Arshak drill holes DDA-461 (including 11 meters and 22 meters at 1.0g/t gold), RCA-462 and DDA-324 illustrate the success of the resource extension program in identifying new ounces laterally outside the FS pit-shell (see Figures 1 and 6 in Appendix).

The Company also announces that it has identified a new area of gold mineralisation by geotechnical drilling to the north of Tigranes (see Figure 1 in Appendix). Geotechnical drill hole DDAG-317 intersected 27.1 meters at 1.5g/t gold from surface (open at depth) and DDAG-309 intersected 10 meters at 1.2g/t gold from surface. Work is underway to ascertain whether this mineralisation connects with the Erato area.

"Our recent FS highlighted the attractive economics of the Amulsar project, including a $646M NPV, using a conservative $900 pit-shell and $1200 gold price" said Tim Coughlin, Lydian's President and Chief Executive Officer. "We expect that these favourable figures will improve even in the short term if we are correct in our belief that we can quickly convert the fringe of inferred mineral resources within the current FS pit-shell to mineral reserves. This round of drill results also clearly supports our contention that gold resources at the Amulsar project remain open at depth and laterally beyond the extents of the FS pit-shell. Furthermore, the somewhat surprising intersection of significant gold grades in geotechnical drilling to the north of Tigranes reveals that there are still yet more complexities to unravel and potentially more ounces to be found at Amulsar. Recent geologic modelling implies a much stronger structural control than previously thought and the possibility of significant further depth potential and blind structural repeats of gold mineralisation" he added.

GeoMegA up 42% since posted it here. Think it still has a long way to go to catch up with its peers. Updated NI 43-101 later this month should highlight what a giant Montviel really is.

Eco Oro down 40% since recommending a short on it Sunday. Expect the fall will continue until Friday -- probably the most lucrative trade I've seen this year. Pity my short selling broker (igindex) doesn't deal in Canadian shares. Anyone know of one which does?

Exited BZA and looking for a re-entry in the 'teens.

Sage / pr0t0n / IceTonic -- Thanks for the tips above. Will look into them.

By the way, if anyone has the ability to short TSX listed companies then Eco Oro looks like a very good opportunity. A major fund will be offloading just under 4m shares between Monday and Friday. Already creating massive downward pressure/volume (20% down on only 90k). Will be a penny share by the end of the week imho.

I would be very interested in your views on these 4, all of which when I bought, looked to me, excellent. Only XBR has performed, and mkt cap still only 16.4M!
Incidently Carlisle CGJ looks a very cheap explorer. Ditto Source SOP.

I'm looking for more near-term junior gold producers if anyone can suggest any?

Similar companies to V.BZA would be ideal. This may include companies which have recently transitioned or will soon transition from developer to producer, and may be ramping up production. Market cap in the sub-$100m range ideally. Thanks.

Bought in to American Bonanza Gold (BZA) this morning. Has been drifting on lack of news for a few months and the current valuation is very low if they do hit their production targets. Main reasons for buying now: -

1. Quarterly update is out on September 30th. Based on the timelines in their June updates and presentation, the new stopes should be more or less ready so an announcement of commercial production could be imminent.

2. The CFO/VP recently exercised 360k worth of options (August). Most of these are sub 20 cents, but one batch was exercised at 22 cents. He kept hold of all those shares rather than disposing for a quick profit -- a positive sign. (see: )

3. There have been no subsequent announcements of financing, suggesting they are cash flow positive.

4. The current market cap is fair even at pre-ramp-up rates of production.

5. Low cash costs. QE3 can only help but not necessary.

The main reservation I have about the company at this stage is it apparently isn't engaging with shareholders very well. However they are delivering results and the questions being asked by shareholders are probably price sensitive anyway.

all imho, gla

UPDATE: a user on Yahoo spoke with the CEO by phone today and reported: -

"Jim Bagwell is on site and I spoke to him today for around 7 minutes. Jim told me that they have Brokers and Industry experts on site today and tomorrow looking over the operation. Hopefully this will stimulate some appetite for the stock.
He told me that they now have multiple faces open to work from. Prior to this the standard mine back filling that is done was really slowing down the process of getting to the ore. Now with multiple faces open they can back fill and mine at the same time.
Jim also mentioned that they are buying a few more pieces of equipment to speed up production. He did not get specific into what that equipment would be.
Jim said that the management team expected to be producing 3,000 ounces per month in the forth quarter of this year. I asked Jim about the exploration drills that were still above ground the last time I talked to him. Jim said that the exploration drills were underground now, but all effort was currently being put into bringing up the production rates. Jim expects to begin exploration drilling the 1st quarter of next year.
I asked when we could expect a new release and Jim said he thought news would be released soon. Since Brokers and Industry experts are on site today and tomorrow, maybe we can get some third party news fairly soon also."

Sage, interesting read. I think supply vs demand of individual rare earths is valuable to consider also, with some oversupplied (e.g. lanthanum) and others expected to be undersupplied (e.g. neodymium/Nd). One reason I like GeoMegA (other than its massive resource, bonus Niobium, and sector-low mcap and free-float) is that it's rich in Nd (a critical rare earth expected to be short in supply within a couple of years), used for hybrid cars, wind power turbines, etc. GMA recently updated their website and there were some kinks but the Aug 2012 presentation is working now. PS - nice VML rally.
